Week #7

This week went by very quickly it seems. It was a slightly busy week, but I think that is

what helped the time go by so fast. I only had a couple of challenges this week that I ran into.

At the beginning of the week, I revised my script for the sex education video library, and

I thought I had finalized it when I submitted it to my team leader for feedback. I really liked my

final script that I submitted because I really enjoyed getting to add some humor into it to serve as

an attention grabber for viewers. However, when I received feedback from my team leader, they

pointed out that perhaps I needed to add more to the script that really ties the video’s purpose

into the video and also incorporate reasons that we want students to utilize this pdf guide to talk

to their sexual partners and remind them that we want them to remain as safe and healthy as

possible. They were definitely right to point that out, and I have been working on that over the

weekend and will be finished with it entirely by Monday. I took this feedback way better than

some other feedback I received from one of my supervisors in the middle of the week. My

supervisor, Melissa, basically rejected a flyer that I was actually pretty excited to share with my

other team, the sexual assault awareness month team. I think the reason I was so upset by the

feedback is because I did spend a good chunk of my time working on this flyer because I wanted

to make sure it would grab the attention of people that see it so it would promote our Take Back

the Night march event, but I didn’t really get any specific feedback to know what I did wrong or

what about my flyer design needs to be changed. I do intend to have a meeting with this

supervisor next week to discuss what changes she wants to see made to the flyer design so I can

redo it. It was definitely a challenge to have my work be so blatantly rejected when I really liked

it, but I understand that sometimes it happens. If nothing else, I think this incident is helping me

to take criticism better and use it constructively to improve my work.
