Artifact: Portfolio

Date of Completion- Spring 2021

Course Completed in: EDUC 230-01V Education Field Experience

This artifact is a pre- professional teaching portfolio where I am able to share the

kind of work I have accomplished as a pre service teacher. As well as having the ability

to give whoever views my website a better understanding about me as a person and the

kind of teacher I strive to be in the future! This website is a creation of the work I have

completed as a student pursuing an education career, and it is a way to share my

passion through a website. This specifically relates to standard 5.ii.7. as it states, “The

teacher understands creative thinking processes and how to engage learners in

producing original work.” (NJ Professional Teaching Standards, 2014, p.7).

My pre- professional portfolio was a chance for me to express the kind of person and

teacher I hope to be in the future, and I demonstrated that by designing the website how

I felt best represented me. By doing this, I understand the importance of being able to

produce something that is original, shows hard work and creativity to create a product of

work.

What I have learned while creating my portfolio was that it is important to make

sure I am able to create something that is authentic and sincere and most importantly

from the heart. I learned this as I was creating my portfolio and thought about who

would see my work in the future, such as a future employer. I wanted to value the

importance of showing work that showed who I was a person and what I stand for as a

possible future educator. I believe that whatever career or passion you want to pursue,

you need to be able to accept everything that makes you, you. As I was working on my

portfolio, I understood that even though it may not be perfect, it was still something that I

created myself and worked hard on.

My portfolio is definitely something I would use in the future as an educator as it

allowed me to be creative with my passion for education. It gave me a chance to work

more with technology and how to design something that was meaningful. An example

with how I can implicate this in my future classroom is by making creative powerpoints

and lessons for my students.
