1. Your role as Editorial Board Member

As an Editorial Board Member, your responsibilities include helping us maintain and improve the
journal standards and quality by participating in the following ways:

• Monitor the editorial policy of the journal, both in terms of its coverage and the level and
quality of papers, and convey your views on these matters to the editors
• Manage the peer-review process of manuscripts in own subject area, which involves
constructive and prompt evaluation of manuscripts with the intention of improving their
quality
• Support the journal through submission of your own manuscripts, where appropriate
• Encourage your colleagues and peers to submit high quality manuscripts to the journal -
passing suggestions to the editors for commissioning
• Improve journal visibility by encouraging your institution to subscribe to the journal
• Provide feedback to the Editor in Chief and Wiley publishing contact
• Support journal promotion by soliciting new manuscripts from experts in the field
• Stay in touch with fellow Board Members
• Mediate ethical issues as requested

2. Principles to review EBM performance

Systematic annual reviews of Editor performance and workload evaluation will be conducted to
help further improve the ITEES workflow and turnaround time. The outstanding EBM who have
taken on heavier workload and handled manuscripts in an efficient and timely manner will
receive Certificate of Achievement and be announced on the journal’s homepage in the coming
new year.

Additionally, we will update the editorial board members when necessary (quarterly or half-
yearly) to help the EiC to make the best team composition. In this case, a few board members
might be contacted to see if they are willing to step down due to the following reasons: few
submissions being handled, much longer turnaround time, insufficient time being invested in the
editorial work, or other personal reasons like change of work schedule.

3. Journal homepage

4. Journal’s ScholarOne Manuscript Homepage

https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/itees
ScholarOne is our online submission and editorial system. It enables authors to submit articles
online, reviewers to review online and editors to manage the editorial process.

7 detailed requirements to handle submissions for ITEES:

• EBM can make desk-rejection without peer-review by setting the “reviews required to
make decision” to 0 (zero) when the quality is lower than the peer-review standard.
However, desk-rejection decision has to be made in 2 weeks after the assignment of this
manuscript. If the time exceeds 2 weeks, please send manuscripts out for peer-review,
and make recommendation according to the reviewers’ comments.
• For every new submission, please invite 6 reviewers at least and make recommendation
with 3 reviewers’ comments.
• If EBM does not receive 3 reviewers’ comments after 30 days, then EBM can make
recommendation with 2 reviewers’ comments.
• The percentage of Plagiarism Check should be less than 30%. If the similarity percentage
is passed, then EBM should not reject manuscripts for similarity check problem unless
there are severe continuous overlapping and please contact EiC.
• If EBM’s speed of handling manuscript is slow, then the backlog increases, which will
influence the assignment of new submissions, leading to the annual workload is lower
than average number. Thus, EBMs are suggested to invite more reviewers and contact
the late reviewers to submit their reports as soon as possible.
• If the reviewer’s comment is only one simple sentence or few sentences, or something
universal and not closely related to this manuscript, then please rescind this reviewer’s
report, and invite new reviewers.
• If reviewer requires to cite their own papers, EBMs can contact this reviewer or remind
EiC in the textbox of “Confidential Comments to the EIC”, EiC will replace these literatures
to our standard text.

ScholarOne” before any action. If you need some help or training, please visit the following
