2.- PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

We use the present continuous tense to describe actions that are happening now, around

now and personal future plans. The present continuous tense is also called the present

progressive tense.

We can form the present continuous tense in the following way:

am/is/are + verb + ing

Examples

I am learning how to swim.

He is writing a book.

The crow is building a nest.

USING PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

We can use the present continuous tense in the following situations:

Situation 1: Actions that are happening now

Example:

They  are eating now.

We are singing too loudly.

They are fishing in the stream.

Situation 2: Actions that are happening around now or are temporary.

Examples

She is staying in New York.

We are working hard these days.

Situation 3: Future Plans

Examples

A am going to buy a house next year

I am starting piano lessons soon.

We are having a barbeque this evening.

STRUCTURE
AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES

We can form the present continuous tense in the following way:

Subject + am/is/are + verb + ing +complement

Examples

I am learning how to swim.

She is reading a book.

The crow is building a nest.

NEGATIVE SENTENCES

We can form the negative of the Present Continuous Tense by adding not after am/are/is.

Subject+am/are/is/not/verb/ing/complement

Examples:

 I am not watching TV.  

 She is not dancing at home.

 They are not cooking now

 INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES

We make questions by putting am, is or are in front of the subject:

Example:

Are you listening?

Are they coming to your party?

Is she going to the hospital now?

3.- GIVING DIRECTIONS

 My building house is in front Liberator Avenue.

 The Tesoro bank is behind of my building house.

 I walk on for about one kilometer to my school.

 Near of my house there are some office building.

 If you walk four block At the second corner just to the left you will see the red

building of PDVSA company.

 The Plaza´s Market is  opposite to my house.

 My building house is next to  the Sabana Grande subway station.

 The subway stations is  between the Mac. Donald and KFC.

 Two block of my house you can see city market mall

 In the corner of my houses is located FONTUR building.
