Career Conversations

My cooperating teacher led the students in a writing about their future careers. The
students were asked to think of what career path they would want to take and to write a
reason why. I walked around and talked with students about their choice.

Me: What job did you choose?

Student A: I want to be a vet.
Me: Why did you want to be a vet?
Student A: Because I like animals and I want to be around them all the time.

Student B: Miss M, I don’t know how to spell my job.

Me: What job is it?
Student B: I want to be a Lamborghini fixer.
Me: That sounds awesome! People who work on cars are called mechanics. Does that
sound like the job you want?
Student B: Yes!

Me: I see you want to be a teacher! Why do you want to be a teacher?

Student C: Because I want to teach like you and Mrs. A. I want to be in charge of the
classroom!
Me: Oh, that sounds great!
