MODEL TEST – PAPER 2

Section A
Read the dialogue below. Then, use the information to complete the following multi-
flow map. (10 marks)

Zainal: Father, can you tell me about the causes of air pollution?

Father: Sure, Zainal. Air pollution is largely caused by exhaust fumes. The fumes are
produced by vehicles such as cars, motorcycles and buses. Factories also
release large amounts of exhaust fumes that contain poisonous chemicals
into the air. Besides that, when trees are cut down it contributes to air
pollution. Trees absorb many gases that pollute the air so when there are
less trees, air pollution increases.

Zainal: What are the effects of air pollution, Father?

Father: Well, air pollution can cause health problems such as eye irritation, skin
rashes and lung and heart diseases. Besides that, the chemicals that are
released into the air can combine with rain to become acid rain. Air
pollution also causes climate change because the atmosphere becomes
warmer.
