ROUND 1 v GOLD COAST, METRICON STADIUM
Unfortunately, Dixon, Hartlett and Gray were all injured in the match against the
Dogs and will not play this week. Replacing them are Georgiades, McKenzie and
Ebert.
QT – GC 1.2.8 | PA 4.2.26
HT – 3.2.20 | 6.3.39
3QT – 3.2.20 | 8.5.53
FT – 5.3.33 | 10.5.65
We weren’t very good this match, there were many patches where we were goalless
for at least 5 minutes. The Suns won in Contested Possessions, Kicks, Clangers,
Marks and Free Kicks, but we had more Disposals and Hitouts. Rockliff had a
cracker and Georgy had a great debut. Jack Watts played in the forward line to my
surprise, and DBJ played in the ruck for some reason. Overall, a fair match as we
win by 32 points on the Sunshine Coast.
ROUND 2 v ADELAIDE, ADELAIDE OVAL
Todd Marshall ruptured his Achilles in the previous match and will be sidelined for 53
weeks. Hamish Hartlett returns from injury and slots straight into the backline.
Replacing Marshall is Peter Ladhams, whereas Jack Watts makes way for the
Hammer.
QT – PA 1.1.7 | ADE 1.2.8
HT – 4.1.25 | 2.4.16
3QT – 4.2.26 | 3.9.27
FT – 6.2.38 | 3.13.31
Power had less inside 50’s, but we converted most of our shots. 20+ Marks is a
surprise considering the game I watched, we looked poor. Different areas to improve
on. Lycett takes the three votes again, but Ollie Wines had a great game. Can’t
imagine anyone being dropped; Ebert or Butters may make way for Dixon who
returns from injury. Georgiades kicked two goals which is a great confidence boost
for him, considering he’ll play either FF or CHF all year due to Marshall’s injury. I
can’t wait for Dixon and George to tear the comp apart. Rockliff was quiet, but Amon
grabbed a few intercept marks, albeit turning them over immediately. We have a
good team, but I think Marshall’s injury could come back to haunt us. Power by 7
though; one week at a time.
