challenges as HR

during pandemic.
BEFORE
PANDEMIC
WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN
(GLOBALLY)
HR professionals experience workplace stress due to they are
expected doing multitasking activities, dealing with negative
issues and having pressures in finding solutions to the
problems (Chartered Institute of Professional Development as
cited by Blain, 2019).
Daniel (2019) on her article at the Society for Human Resource
Management online magazine on Employee Relations, she
cited that layoffs, harassment, discrimination, mergers and
acquisitions, personality conflicts, or an abusive boss are the
common concerns faced by employees that can cause negative
emotional pain. Due to these, HR professionals are the ones
who are responsible in dealing with these challenges that even
they themselves had experience such stressors.
What is Already Known?
(LOCALLY)

In a study conducted by Sprout Solutions as presented by Oscillada

(2019), the top three pain points of Filipino human resource professionals
are labor relations (54%), recruitment (49.3%) and payroll (28%). Other
areas include compensation and benefits (25.3%), timekeeping (24%),
organizational development (23.3%), employee engagement (21.3%),
employer branding, (13.3%) and learning and development (12.7%).
Another Local Finding
Sprout Solutions as published in 2019 by
Oscillada, had identified that Filipino HR
professionals complains on manual work
especially processing internal labor
concerns and recruitment processes.
Because of personal engagement with
employees, it really takes them lots of time
and even had also expressed their concerns
on genuinely dealing with it.
Human Resource departments had a difficult job prior to
the pandemic. In 2019, more than 50% of HR leaders
struggled to ensure that employees had the skills
necessary to navigate an increasingly digitized workplace.
