Lesson Written Critique

I believe I did a great job at preparing myself for my lesson a week prior to

presenting. I was very knowledgeable of the content and I reflected that by always

providing feedback and answering my students’ questions. According to my

mentor teacher, I displayed appropriate oral communication between the students,

displayed patience, and I also displayed a sense of humor. My goal was to create a

lesson that was very relatable to my students and just something that they could

reflect on years after, and I believe I achieved that. Apart from the beginning of the

presentation with the definitions, I believe I did a great job at effectively defining

and providing examples of the different payment methods. Lastly, I did a great job

at keeping the students fully engaged and getting their attention back whenever

they were losing focus.

According to my mentor teacher, some of the things I needed improvement

on were on beginning the lesson effectively and providing clear, understandable

directions and explanations. In the beginning, I was a little nervous when I had to
start the presentation, so I think I rushed the introduction and didn’t present the

new topic effectively. I lacked in connecting our new topic to the last topics we

have talked about. Some of my directions were a little confusing at times, so I

could tell the students were a little lost and I would have to go back to explain

what we were doing again. Lastly, I don’t think I effectively defined what an

advantage and disadvantage were in the beginning, so I had to define them again

and provide more example for the students to fully understand the remanding of

the lesson.
