• Does SynsorMed comply with HIPAA? HIPAA applies to covered entities that transmit/receive PHI.
Our system does not contain PHI. It is meant to be integrated with Epic system where the actual PHI
lives. Every patient monitored in our system is identified by a randomly generated secure code. The
short answer: There is no PHI that goes through SynsorMed. We act as a seamless network to deliver
remote data into the EHR from disparate devices. (PHI info: https://www.hipaa.com/hipaa-protected-

• Does SynsorMed Integrate with the System we currently using? SynsorMed is able to integrate with
Epic via 2 methods. Method 1: SynsorMed can provide raw biometric data via a secure feed to the Flow
Sheet module. Method 2: SynsorMed can provide a Trusted Application Integration (TAI) interface. We
would provide two links that would be embedded inside of a patient’s chart. The links would be used to
launch a secure browsing session to configure a monitor and to view monitored data.
• Can SynsorMed monitor the large amount of patients that we have? Our innovative platform is
highly scalable using the latest HIPAA compliant cloud solutions. We can easily scale to 1,000s of
patients. Our team has experience with large scale State Health Information Exchange (HIE).
