Young children find great pleasure in

using a pencil or crayon to draw or

scribble on paper. This is their first
encounter of art. This begins about one
year of age. They have no picture in
mine but enjoy just making marks. It is
suggested that some marking activities
are more complex then they are thought
to be. Scribbling is later controlled by
varying their movements and by
repeating lines. The best contribution a
parent can give to encourage scribbling
is proper tools pens, crayons, markers,
pencils.
Pre- Symbolism is when children start to
combine lines and circles to form a
human figure. Sometimes these figures
may resemble tadpoles with no arms or
legs. And all people will look the same.
At this age they drawings are more of a
reflection of personality and intellectual
growth.
Symbolism is when the child is able to
draw things that they recognize. They
are very much individualized since they
come from the child’s understand rather
than observation of the world around
them. It may have legs arms and a head.
As well as clothes hands and feet.
Children at this age enjoy the benefits
from motivational topics involving sports
or storying activities.
Baseline is when the drawing is
organized and not floating in space. And
later there is multiple base lines. As
children become more understanding of
the world become more complex, they
feel the need to be more authentically.
Realism is when children exhibit greater
visual awareness of the things around
them. There is more detail and
proportion in what they are drawing.
There is even clothes and body parts
hairstyles and nails.
