2nd Grade - English

Education.com has so many OER recourses for educators. I have looked and found some

homework sheets that I would love to use for my 2ND Graders. I would say that the website

extension is good. They let educators use them and can join with payment. Their team has

created a place where other teachers can share their work or use someone else’s work. The

amount of time is always updated and never goes out of date. My first resource website is

https://www.education.com/lesson-plans/second-grade/ela/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw-

LOEBhDCARIsABrC0Tk9qcZJP0O37KMI6Qc4TKVeZ7GMKZRaNyCymLvOZyIvkDjBOoq

Mk4kaAo7iEALw_wcB. When you click on that link it will open to a page where there’s many

worksheets or projects just for second grade alone. All this material can be so useful for your

classroom and students. There is a lot of updated fun worksheets and other ideas you can use.

You can get free access for the first time using it however if you want more of an access you will

have to have to buy the premium account. Either pay eight dollars monthly or choose annual five

dollars every month. This OER recourse meets my outcomes and competencies because the fact

that they offer so much in one website is crazy. You can get thousands of worksheets with only a

touch of a finger. This OER recourse has a lot of worksheets and lesson plans through K to 12th

grade. This is a great way to get fun activities for the students. The quality of this website is

excellent. Its easy to find what you need. There it a search bar if you are looking for anything
specific and will bring up a lot of resources. I also got my other two OERs from the same webize

and these are: https://www.education.com/lesson-plan/authors-purpose-in-fiction-texts/ and

https://www.education.com/lesson-plan/el-support-lesson-story-hooks/. These two resources are

great and go with my reading lesson plan for 2nd graders.

The two links are from the same website and are also my second and third OER

resources. I will be evaluating them together. Both have detail on how to apply them into the

classroom and they even give you their own lesson plans and adjectives for their worksheets.

They give you ideas on how to achieve the best of the lesson plan. These worksheets go over on

what to capture while reading and needing to understand what they are reading. These resources

fully meet my competencies because they have what I need for my lesson plan. The worksheets

are so much fun to do, easy to read and understand. For this worksheet I will reuse, they are great

work. The website puts the owners name on the worksheet, so we know who made them. There

should not be any copyright issues because this website allows them to share their work with

everyone. These worksheets and websites are great to help make a lesson plan or activities for

the students. They are fun and easy to work with.

Another lesson idea that I have is about writing and to write a good sentence you always

want to start with capitalization. I found this great video that goes over capitalizing and how to

apply it . This video is relevant to my lesson plan and is my fourth OER recourse;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxFGB5vErvw. I got this video from YouTube so its free

and open for anyone to see. The person who made this video Homeschool POP. The video was

published on July 6, 2028. I think this video does meet what I am looking for and some outcomes

I want for the students to get out of is to learn about capitalization and to make them write better.

I will apply this to a mini lesson plan in my writing lesson plan. To describe it to you this video
goes over capitalization, how to use them, when to use them, and the capitalization rules. There

is a guy talking and is sounding enthusiastic about what he is talking about. The quality of this

video is great. He gives amazing examples and tries to involve the kids too. I think I will just

reuse what he is saying in the video and put it on a worksheet or activity for the students. I will

tell my kids who the video is from and make sure to always work cited it to all my lesson plans.

It is on YouTube so we can watch it and use the information but always remembering to give

credit to the owner.

For my Fifth OER recourse I wanted to show this website that I found where any teacher

can get worksheets, assignments, activities, and other materials for a lesson plan or your

classroom. The link is https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Browse/PreK-12-Subject-

Area/Grammar/Price-Range/Free/Type-of-Resource/PowerPoint-Presentations/Grade-

Level/Second. This website is called Teachers Pay Teachers. I do not really know who made the

website however the website is made of a lot of educators. They also do not share the date

however most of the things posted on here are useful and always gets updated. The material of

these resources is what I am looking for to put in my lesson plan. I am focusing on literacy and

with this website I get a bunch of activities for my kids. I found one that is called Word Work

Activities for 2nd Grade 3rd. This will be relevant to the lesson plan because it could give

something to do for my students at their small groups. The activity was free for me but there

were other worksheets that were not free. This website offers teachers to put their work on there

and get paid if other educators want to use their work. There are also people that put their work

for free on that website so they can just help other teachers without wanting to charge them. This

website offers a lot of recourse to me and others. If one thing is not what I am looking for then I

can go back and look for something different. This helps me choose what fits best with my
competencies and when I choose one of them, I always ask myself what I want the outcomes to

be with said resource. I think this website is what I am looking for to open myself to new ideas

and worksheets with trying to do something different. As well if one student does not know or

does not understand, I can always try something new. This OER recourse material has a lot of

things to offer. When oping this resource, you can see several different people posting their

worksheets, activities, PowerPoints, and digital resources. Some are free and some cost money.

This website lets you add your own thing or can buy and use versions of other people’s. On the

left side of the website there is a button that says Menu. When clicking on that button a pop-up

slides out and will give you options on what Grade level, Subject, Price, and Resource Type you

want to choose. This helps when wanting to look at something specific. The quality of these

materials is excellent. You can print, download, and add whatever you want to them. Most of the

worksheets that I want to pick and choose for my students I will reuse them. I always look at

what is best for the lesson and I reuse them because the are already good as they are, I would not

want to change anything. Most of the work that is being posted they have their name on it and

once they post something on that website, they are allowing other teachers to use their work.

There should not be any copyright issues and they are giving their permission to use their work.

This website will be used throughout all my lesson plans, and other ideas I want to do with my

students. It is a great way for me to look at their ideas and will give me ideas to make my own. In

my 2nd grade English, I will apply these recourses while also making myself better and learning

to make some of my own.
