New York State Department of Health must update Guidance on Covid-19 Group Homes and
Day Hab Programs
Members of NYADD are partnering with Assemblywoman Melissa “Missy” Miller (R,C,I-Atlantic Beach) in a Zoom Press
Conference to urge the New York State Department of Health (DOH) to update its COVID-19 quarantine protocols for
Group Homes to reflect recently updated guidance from the CDC and to amend guidance for Day Hab Programs so they
allow more individuals to attend.

The CDC has recently released updated guidance to no longer require a quarantine period for vaccinated individuals in
non-healthcare congregate settings, which includes Group Homes and Day Hab Programs. However, the DOH still has not
updated its guidance to reflect that of the CDC. This means that vaccinated individuals are STILL required to quarantine
for up to 14 days if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19.

“Our loved ones have suffered immeasurable mental harm by the prolonged lockdowns due to the Covid-19 Crisis”, says
NYADD Co-Founding member, Bob Carpenter. “These individuals have the right to the same freedoms as anyone else in
the State, but instead while the rest of the New York is getting back to business as usual, these men and woman and being
forgotten once again!”

Many Group Home residents have received the vaccine and they should no longer be forced to quarantine. Many
individuals are stuck at home every day because the Day Hab Programs are not fully re-opened. The DOH needs to be
adjust their guidance to reflect the CDC’s.
