EVERYTHING YOU NEED

TO KNOW
THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC 2020

WHAT IS COVID?
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a recently
discovered corona virus. Coronaviruses are a large
family of diseases that may cause sickness in humans
or animals. The virus is able to spread through droplets
of saliva or emission from the nose. The majority of
people who obtain this disease will experience mild to
moderate respiratory illness and recover without
necessary medical treatment. However, older people
with serious medical conditions such as diabetes and
cancer are much more likely to acquire the corona
virus and develop serious respiratory infection.

HOW CAN WE PREVENT

THE SPREAD?
In order to prevent the corona virus, we need to be well
educated on the details behind this virus, the disease it
creates and how quickly it can expand. Throughout this
pandemic, be sure to frequently wash your hands for at
least 20 seconds. You should always avoid touching
your face with unwashed hands. When coughing or
sneezing, it is important to carry out this action into
your elbow or a tissue. In addition, it is appropriate to
use an alcohol based rub often to keep yourself
protected from the disease. Also, make sure to avoid
large crowded spaces, wear a mask when going out
into the public, and stay 6 feet away from all people.

(667,572 cases)
Spain is the second leading country in terms of

Italy is the third leading country in terms of the

As of now, the United Kingdom is the sixth-highest country with

COVID-19 globally. They currently have 103,093 confirmed cases and
13,729 deaths. On April 10, 2020, they had their highest number of
CORONA cases in one day, with 8,681 diagnosed patients and 980 deaths. A
scientist has recently explained his fears to the U.K. government, as
UNITED he believes they may become the worst-hit country in Europe. Many
people are starting to realize how the death toll in the U.K. may be
KINGDOM thousands short of the true number because they are not counting
individuals infected outside of hospitals. In addition, the United
VIRUS Kingdom has faced a large amount of criticism during this pandemic.
People feel as if they were late to accept widespread testing, failed to
partner with a European Union-wide ventilator procurement program,
and they did not offer enough personal safety equipment for the
health care workers on the front-line. The U.K. economy is also facing
a 13% shrink as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, and this will be
its deepest economic decline in 300 years. In just the April-June
period, the economic output could decrease by 35 percent, along with
the unemployment rate doubling by 10 percent. Al Jazeera's Charlie
Angela states, "That 35 percent would be a contraction in the second
quarter - but it would be a massive contraction, bigger than after the
Spanish flu, bigger than after World War I, bigger than after World War
II - so incredibly significant for this country." Evidently, the
coronavirus is creating many issues throughout the United Kingdom
right now.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Across the globe, everyone is affected
by the rapidly spreading disease,
including many families and healthcare
workers. However, those who are most
susceptible to the virus are older adults
and any individuals with underlying
medical conditions. They will most SOCIAL
DISTANCE
likely experience more severe
symptoms and possibly face death.
