Video Reflection

What did I do? (what you like and what you do not like)

Basically, I prepared the lesson plan and studied the lesson about China’s first civilization. It was
a lot of information from the textbook so I read several times to know the lesson inside out. That
one topic or section supposed to be for one week, this was how the homeroom teacher did. What
Regarding procedure, I wrote down all the steps how I would go in my notebook, but I could not
think whether it was organized unless I taught even though I taught the previous lesson about
India because this time I aimed to use a different instruction, discussion and QA methods. To be
honest, I did not like the fact that I was a bit nervous every time I tried to use a different
instruction because I often faced disorganized. I started with a review question about civilization
which was connected to every lesson because the entire book was all about civilization. This
tendency was to know how they understood about it. By the time, I gave them a space to write
down their opinion and faced the challenges to those who did not write what I said. It was
especially one boy at the back and one girl in the middle. They rarely followed instructions in
every class. I did my best to warn them to do what I told them to do. I gave them time to share
what they thought so some were sharing and some were not. I did not like myself that I felt kind
of loss on what to do when they were not participating the activities. What burden me was I did
not have a full authority. It was a bit ciao in reading activity because I did not give them a
specific passage but I rather let them decided by their respective group. So, it did not as I planned
because it took a lot of time just dividing the passage among them, and I was running around to
answer with same questions. With regard to my voice projection, I believed it was clear enough.
What I enjoyed most was my classroom management was okay even though there were some
students who did not follow what I asked for but they did take part when sharing. I felt everyone
was enjoying the activity and having fun and most of them were serious with lessons and
participating in the class activity. In short, I felt I was rushing and received a comment from
students that they did not have enough time to read and share. To conclude, I really like my style
of teaching, encourage, confidence, and friendly to my students in general.
What did I learn?

Generally, I learnt from today was giving a clear instruction is the main part where I needed to
work on and get improved. I should have given and told them what I expected from the video or
wanted to do before I showed them. Then, they would pay all ears to the video I showed. Next
item was to divide passages for every individual group member and explain the instructions
before I let them join the group so this really could save my time. Moreover, I should have set up
the time and showed on the projector then, they would be aware of time. I should be more
serious to those who did not follow the instruction.

What will I do?

I will adjust my lesson plan to suit the time allotted for 45 minutes. I will use the same
instruction, discussion and QA method, and students will be asked to read in advance. For the
review section, I will make sure that everyone shares his or her part to their partners. I will
replace a video with a suitable one that comply with the topic. I will explain them my
expectation from the video_ taking notes and answering questions for events seen on the video.
Then, I will ask them to share something from the video. For class reading activity, I will use
jigsaw method so I will prepare dividing the passages in advance by myself and explain what
each group need to do, inform reading step and procedures so they will know what happen next.
I will give them enough time to read and share to the whole class.
