INNOVATIVE USES 11
Product: Loom
Intended Use: Record video messages of your screen, cam, or both. Faster than typing an email or meeting live.
Fees: Starter- Free, Business- $8/month
K-12 application(s): My 5th grade son's teacher used Loom to communicate daily with parents in regards to their
daily schedule. Every day she would record a video of her going over and discussing the class’s digital distance
learning schedule for the day. The same schedule that the students see on their Google Classroom, so that
parents were able to see the schedule and be familiar with the work that they were doing from home everyday
and what they had been responsible for completing each day. I thought this was such a fantastic idea and a great
way to engage the parents on the day of the students. It made it so that we could help keep the kids accountable
without having to hover. I think that this program could also benefit other students through distance or hybrid
learning. Teachers can create videos to share short lessons or projects without having to be live in front of the
camera. The student is still getting to see the screen of what they are to do, but also able to hear instructions at
the same time. Our students have come a long way with technology this year. I believe that even the younger
students would be able to utilize this technology.
