This week was Teacher Appreciation Week!It did start out kind of rocky though.
On Tuesday there was a substitute as my cooperating teacher could not make it to
school. Me and her had spoken privately about the details and what they were planning on doing. For the few hours I was there I did help substitute. The children though, we're very unruly and acted like it was the first day of school. It's funny how they somehow listen to me more than the substitute but the more I thought about it it was because I'd been there for more time than the substitute had. It was very chaotic when I walked in the classroom and before I could even set my stuff down I had to start yelling at students for not being on task and doing things they knew they were not allowed to do. They all listened very nicely to me and I eventually carried out the language arts lesson plan. The substitute even complimented me in the sub note to my cooperating teacher! That gave me a little bit of confidence knowing that my cooperating teacher was not being biased in her reviews on me. On a brighter note the students that were acting on task and doing what they were supposed to we're setting up the hermit cage they had gifted to my cooperating teacher. Me and my cooperating teacher joked that it wasn't really a gift as she had to take care of it. It was very nice for the students to think of her! On the day of the substitute two of the students Andelin and Reagan came up with a great idea to make a huge poster for my cooperating teacher when she returned to school for the next day! Each student signed it and it made her extremely happy to walk in with that especially before reading the subnote. The following day the students actually made me a poster as well and as soon as I got home I shoved it right into my memory box because that is the first gift any classroom has ever given me! Although the classroom may have been a little off this week, I truly do love each and every one of those students and my cooperating teacher! We will see how next week treats us!
