Hand Hygiene is the process of cleaning up impurities and microorganisms


on the hands obtained through contact with patients, other health workers
and environment surfaces (flora transien) by using soap / antiseptics under
running water or using alcohol- based hand rubs.
1. Hand Washing with antiseptic liquid (hand Rub) , is washing hand
Definition
using antiseptic liquid based on alcohol gel on the entire surface of
the hand to minimize the growth of microorganism without using
water and towels (on clean hand)
2. Cleaning hand with antiseptic soap / liquid / solution and
running water (handwash), is washing hands with running water
using soap / antiseptic liquid which aims to clean the hand of
transient microorganism in the hand (on dirty hands)

Policy 1. Antiseptic hand cleaning prosedures must be performed by all health
workers, families, visitors who are in direct contact with patients or
the patients environments
2. Hand cleaning prosedure with antiseptic is done before contact with
the patients, before performing aseptic action, after being exposed to
body fluids, after contact with the patients and after contact with
patients surrounding area
3. Each room must have facilities :
a. sink with running water with a long- handled faucet
b. antiseptic soap or liquid containing chlorhexidine 2% and 4 %
for hand sanitizers
c. hand rub liquid
d. hand dryer
e. an image of the hand sanitizer procedure is seen in all
facilities.
A.Hand washing with
steps by steps:
1. open the jewelry used. Wet hands with running water
2. pour soap into the palms 3-5 cc
3. flatten with both palms
4. rub the back and between fingers left with right hand vice versa
5. rub the palms and between the fingers
6. fingers in both hand lock together and rub together
7. rub the left thumb in a circular motion in the grip of the right hand
and do the opposite
8. rub the left palm by rotating the tips of the fingers right fingers anf
vice versa
9. rinse both hands with running water
10. dry both hands with disposable tissue
11. Use the used tissue to close the water faucet
Procedure
12. now the hands are safe (procedure done 40 – 60 seconds)
A. Hand Washing With antiseptic. (hand wash)
Steps by steps:
1. Pour 3-5 alcohol based antiseptic solution into the palms of the hand
3-5cc
2. Rub the palms evenly
3. Rub the back and between the fingers of the left hand with the right
hand and vice versa
4. Rub the second palms and between the fingers
5. The finger of the inside and both hands lock and rub together.
6. Rub the left thumb in a circular motion and grip han and do the
opposite
7. Rub the left palm by turning the fingertip of the right finger and vice
versa
8. Now hands are safe (procedure is done 20-30 second)
