Introduction
.The research is devoted to find the current condition of pharmaceutical industries in Kazakhstan.
However there are some factors discussed which hinders the market growth in a particular country. In
addition the geographic trends of Kazakhstan are also examined which relates to the market growth.

Analysis
Growth rate:
The sparsely populated country of Kazakhstan covers a vast 1.052 million square miles (2.725 million
square kilometers). In 2019 population of 18,589,667, Kazakhstan has 17.67 people per square mile
(6.82 people per square kilometer), making it the 184 th most densely populated country in the world.
Kazakhstan's 2019 annual growth rate of 1.03% is expected to peak in 2020 at 1.13% before gradually
declining towards 0.50 by halfway through the 21 st century. Population predictions expect that the
population in Kazakhstan will be 18,777,139 in 2020, 20,301,322 in 2030, and 21,621,166 by 2040.

Economy:

Kazakhstan 2019
Population, million 18.6
GDP, current US$ billion 186.2
GDP per capita, current US$ 9,966
School Enrollment, primary (% gross) (2016) 109
Life Expectancy at Birth, years (2016) 72.3

The services sector is the most important and accounts for 54 percent of total GDP. The biggest
segments within services are: wholesale and retail trade and repairs of motor vehicles and motorcycles
(15 percent of total GDP); transport, warehousing, information and communication (10 percent); real
estate (9 percent) and professional, scientific, technical, administrative and support services (7 percent).
Industry contributes 34 percent of the wealth; construction 7 percent and agriculture, forestry and
fishing 5 percent.

Pharmaceutical sector:
According to the state program for the development of the pharmaceutical industry, the government’s
priority task is to supply 50% of the market with locally produced medicines and healthcare products
by 2018. All imported and locally produced pharmaceutical products must
be registered in Kazakhstan. Depending on the type of drug, a registration payment varies from
USD3, 000 to USD5, 000.  Generally, the manufacturer pays the registration fee. Pharmaceutical imports
in 2019 are expected to slightly increase by about 5%, reaching an estimated USD1.12 billion
[ CITATION EXP19 \l 1033 ].

Opportunities
Kazakhstan has one of the highest rates of drug consumption per capita among post-soviet
countries.  Despite government attempts to improve and increase local production of
pharmaceuticals, Kazakhstan is still attractive for U.S. exporters as the production of highly efficient
and innovative medicines is not considered a priority task in the state program.  Severe diseases
such as CVD, cancer, and diabetes still require imports of advanced pharmaceuticals.
