Heal Zone technology
Reflection and generalization
This module is about the revolution of ozone based treatment of dental caries and root
canal treatments that are highly effective and pain free. It was good that the information
was put in a simple and short way. For example, the presentation was about heal zone X4
which is the newest generation. It clearly states that this type can deliver higher ozone
concentration. At the beginning of the presentation I had a hard time following the
delivered information as this was a new concept/innovation in dentistry so at first, I was in
need of an introduction of what heal zone itself is.   Hence, the presentation can start with a
basic statement that mentions that heal zone is a device that produce ozone from oxygen
and that it is applied on the decayed part of tooth as ozone acts as a disinfectant and kills
the bacteria causing decay. Nevertheless, I have developed my understanding of what the
work of heal zone is through the presentation later on.
The moment I understood the effectiveness and use of heal ozone it became one of my
favorite dental instrument. I learnt that this new generation of Heal Zone can deliver higher
ozone concentrations making it possible to successfully exploit the disinfectant property
among variety of dental applications. It is amazing that this method can penetrate to even
the smallest pits and fissures of teeth and destroy the bacteria’s, viruses and fungi present
there. The fact that this option is a win-win for both dentist and patient raises the treatment
quality of dentistry to new heights. With the help of this advancement patients are no
longer subjected to the discomfort of drilling or anesthesia and most importantly there is no
pain.
Furthermore, the ideas that have stayed with me is that most of the cases no filling is
required and there is maximum preservation of the sound tooth structure which is always a
goal when providing restorative treatments or any other dental therapy to patient. Also the
mentioning of its efficiency in treatment of caries and root canal treatment will enable in
performing endodontic treatment in less time duration than normal are important aspects
of dental practice, especially for those individuals who are anxious or uncooperative:
including children. Caries being one of the major oral health problem, this innovation can be
considered useful in dentistry because it is pain free and noninvasive method that can make
cavities treatment complete with no drilling, no side effects and no complications and also

the ability of this new method to detect cavities in early stage allows maximum preservation
of the tooth.
Generalization
Since the Essence of restorative dentistry is removing the various lesions, this can lead the
patients to become anxious when they hear the sound of the tooth being prepared for
restoration. This innovation will reduce this fear and anxiety patients feel when they have to
come for dental treatments because with these methods patients are assured that they
could be treated with no pain or stress. Moreover, the shortened treatment time will
decrease discomfort and will help in alleviating patients fear in restorative dentistry.
