The Andros Trophy: a splendid show for 50,000 spectators!

It’s now customary: every two years the Andros Trophy
leaves the mountains behind for the magnificent
stadium, Stade de France, for a superfinal. The 2011
edition of this took place on 5 March and was a splen-
did show delighting the 1,000 Motul guests invited for
the occasion. Following a bitter struggle for the first
places marked by many collisions, Alain Prost and
Evens Stievenart finally took victory while Christophe
Ferrier and Maxime Emery for their part respectively
won the Andros Electric Trophy and Pilot Bike race.
For his part, the current champion, Jean-Philippe
Dayraut, whose team Saintéloc Racing is supported
technically by Motul, was forced to abandon following
a collision.

Philippe Chiappe off to an excellent start!

Supported technically by Motul, the CTIC China Team med for the sixth time in his career.The second round
participated on 5 March in the F1 H20 World Cham- of the season is to be held in Portimao (Portugal) on

On this occasion, everyone from Philippe Chiappe
or Pierre Lundin, the two drivers of the team, to Eric
Chan, team manager, was motivated to get it right
and forget as soon as possible the various mechanical
glitches encountered last year.
The Franco-Chinese team more than succeeded in
its endeavour! After securing the second best time in
the tests and warm-up, Philippe Chiappe managed to
position himself among the top teams during the race
and finally clinched third place behind Team Qatar’s
two drivers. Results & Standings
Despite the boat’s good set-up and the quality of the 01 / Jay Price – 20 pts
work put in by all the team during the winter, this result 02 / Alex Carella – 15 pts
is above all Philippe’s achievement because, although
03 / Philippe Chiappe – 12 pts
he suffered a power steering breakdown, he managed
to hold the competition back for 15 laps and podiu- 11 / Pierre Lundin – 0 pts

New Spyker C8 Aileron GT
Spyker unveils its new arm
Spyker Squadron, the racing division of the famous
supercar manufacturer, Spyker created in 1898, an-
nounced on 1 March it had chosen to focus its resour-
ces in 2011 on its next generation of GTs.
Based on the all-new Spyker C8 Aileron and develo-
ped to meet the new GT Endurance regulations intro-
duced by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (creator and
organiser of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans), this
new GT will start racing as of 2012.
As a technical partner of this prestigious OEM, Motul
will participate in the development of this exceptional

car. The aim will be to make it at least as good as the
C8 Laviolette GT2 which, it should be recalled, won
two second podium steps during the 2009 Le Mans
Series Championship and secured a superb fifth place
in its class in Le Mans.
This sabbatical year will also be devoted to contacting
new teams wishing to enter the new Dutch GT in the
finest Endurance events in 2012.
Last, it should be noted that, depending on demand
received by the end of the first season, a GT3 variant
could also be developed quite quickly.

A perfect weekend for Mike Jones

Supported technically by Motul, the Reece Bancell
Association puts a lot of effort into helping young
riders compete in various Australian motorcycle racing
championships.
Among the riders helped by the association, the young
Mike Jones is participating in the Australian Supers-
tock 600 championship of which the second round of
the season was held at Symmons Plains on 6 March.
A racing weekend which the association will not easily
forget as its young prodigy quite simply made it into a
perfect one!
In effect, after clinching pole position, winning the three
races of the weekend and establishing the new lap
record, Mike Jones also took the lead of the cham-
pionship, 34 points ahead of his closest rival, Mark
Wilkinson.

US Jetski Endurance / Lake Havasu

Another splendid Mark Hahn Memorial 300 event!
The 7th edition of the Mark Hahn Memorial Havasu
300 race has just taken place on 26 February in the
United States. Very popular (more than 45 teams
on the start line!) despite difficult February conditions
on Lake Havasu, this jetski endurance event, of which
Motul is a partner, has been organised since 2005
in remembrance of Mark Hahn, a major watersports
figure in the United States, who died while racing.
This event is the endurance race for all Jetski drivers
and recalls in many ways the philosophy of the Le
Mans 24 Hours car race:
- A Le Mans-type start.
