Title: BEHIND THE DESIGNER

Stand rst: In conversation with Eman Amir, the designer behind ‘Deeyana’. An
aspiring, young fashion designer with dreams of launching her own beauty line!

Who inspired you to become a fashion designer?


I was a born artist. I have always been very passionate about art from as long as I
can remember. Since 8, I loved to dress up and the only thing that made me happy
were clothes. So, my mother pushed me to do something that I love the most.

What according to you is the best part about being a fashion designer?
I think that the power to in uence the generation is something very intriguing.
Moreover, the job itself is very fun and creative.

The designs you created are no doubt good enough but who and which
things were your inspiration while creating such designs?
I draw inspiration from nature, and sometimes from my art but it totally depends on
the look.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?


Expanding my business and running my own beauty empire alongside my fashion
house!

Tell us about your education. Do you have a degree in fashion designing?


I went to LGS 1-A/1 (Lahore Grammar School) from preschool to A’level and then I
got my bachelors degree in Visual Communication Design from NCA (National
College of Arts). No I don’t.

What did you prefer wearing to school every day in Alevels?


Haha nightsuit!

What are your views on Pakistani fashion Industry?


Well I think that it is progressing with every passing day

Does the competition worry you?


I believe that yourself should be satis ed with what you create and if you put in
your best e orts, I don’t think that anything should worry you. The key here is that
you put in your 100% rst. Obviously you have to keep the interests of the target
audience in place that’s why I have to make sure that every collection stand out.

What kind of dressing do you prefer for annual dinners?


Formal, A designer has to look very classy with a taste and appreciation for art.

When is your next collection coming? What will you name it?
Probably in the next 2 months. It will be called “SUMMER SPLENDOUR”

What did you learn from your biggest failure?


Failures push you closer to victory

What keeps you going?


From the start, I have goals set for myself, and you can say a few expectations as
well. I want to prove everyone wrong who doubted me at the start. I believe that
with faith comes success and if I stop here then 1

Describe your personal style.


Elegant, classy and feminine.

If you weren’t a fashion designer what would you be doing right now?
I really don’t know. This has always been my dream, couldn’t think of anything
else!
