Q1/Define the allosteric enzyme with examples?

-Allosteric enzymes are enzymes that change their conformational ensemble upon binding of an
effector which results in an apparent change in binding affinity at a different ligand binding site.

Examples :

-Prominent examples of allosteric enzymes in metabolic pathways are glycogen phosphorylase,

phosphofructokinase, glutamine synthetase, and aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase).

Q2/differences between allosteric enzymes and non-allosteric enzymes?

-Allosteric regulation and noncompetitive inhibitor bind to site other than active site but allosteric
regulation change the conformation of enzyme and making the reaction less effective while the
noncompetitive inhibitor, like mention in the reading just poison the enzyme so reaction does not take
place at all.
