STUDENT TEACHER WEEKLY CLINICAL REPORT (JOURNAL ENTRY)

Student: Rutha Htoo Week: 12 (April 26th30th)

1. Things I have learned this week:

This week we had really low attendance. We have the same students who summit and complete all their
work every day. Students only have about 8 weeks left of school and so far, only 7 out of 26 of them are
passing.

2. Surprises I have encountered this week:

On teacher development day, the 5 th grade teachers had to complete the training on Next Generation
Learning Standards on ELA and Math. I remember comparing and learning about the Next Generation
Learning Standard in one of my courses and how it’s different from the previous NYS Standards. The
fifth-grade teachers did not enjoy their training for some reason because they have to summit the
questionaries’ and survey to complete the training. My teacher was screaming the whole morning.

3. My strongest area this week was:

We rearrange the classroom and made sure the students who are coming back have everything they
need on their desk. Students will come back on May 10 th and we will have about 8 of them each day. On
Monday, I got to share a little bit about what’s happening in my country Myanmar for our Human Rights
lessons. I also started teaching students how to say “good morning” in my language and next week I am
excited to have them teach me their language.

4. An area in which I need time and support is:

Since students are coming back on May 10 th, I am figuring out how I can teacher remotely and in person
at the same time. I am wondering how I can teach without having problems with audio issues or
classroom noises in general.
