“Once cancer happens it entirely changes the way you live for rest of your

life". This message conveys us the dangerous essence of the deathly disease
that is cancer. Cancer is a disease that is caused by the abnormal growth of the
cells in our body. The origin of the word cancer is credited to the Greek
physician Hippocrates, who is considered as the Father of Medicine. The first
cause of cancer was identified by the British surgeon Percivall Pott, discovered
in 1775. Carcinogenic is widely thought to originate from somatic mutations
and an inhibition of growth suppressors, followed by cell proliferation, tissue
invasion, and risk of metastasis. Fewer than 10% of all cancers are hereditary.
Cancer kills by moving to the organs like intestines, lungs, brain, liver and
kidneys and interfering with the body functions that are necessary to live.
Untreated cancer commonly causes death. In contrast to this, cancer
treatment saves lives only when it is found and treated in the early stage.
Cancer is a complex group of diseases with many possible causes. Cancers are
named for the area in which they begin and the type of cell they are made of,
even they spread to other parts of the body. For example, a cancer that begins
in the liver and spreads to the lungs is still called liver cancer. There are several
clinical terms used for certain general types of cancer: Carcinoma is a cancer
that starts in the skin or tissue that line other organs. Lymphoma and myeloma
are cancers of the immune system. Leukemia is the cancer of the bone
marrow which creates blood cells. Sarcoma is the cancer of connective tissues
such as bones , muscles, cartilage and blood vessels. The direct cause of cancer
is changes (or mutations) to the DNA in your cells. Genetic mutations can be
inherited. Cancer can also be caused by the exposure of cancer-causing
chemicals, called carcinogens, exposure to radiation, lifestyle choices, such as
type of diet and level of physical activity, smoking, certain viruses, such as
human papilloma virus (HPV), unprotected exposure to the sun.
Cancer risk tends to increase along with the age. Knowing the factors that
contribute to cancer can help you live a good lifestyle that decrease cancer
risks. There are some ways to prevent cancer they are: Stop using tobacco and
avoid secondhand smoke, eat a healthy, balanced diet like avoid alcohol or
drink in moderation, keep healthy weight and stay active by getting at least 30
minutes of physical activity every day, stay protected from the sun, get
vaccinated against viral infections that can lead to cancer, don’t engage in
risky behaviors . Practice safe sex and don’t share needles when using drugs or
prescription medications, only get tattoos at licensed parlors. There are
treatments to get rid of cancers they are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation
therapy, stem cell transplant, immunotherapy, targeted drug therapy and
clinical trials. To ensure good health u should eat lightly, breathe deeply, live
moderately, cultivate cheerfulness and maintain an interest in life.
