1) Identify various image editing programs.
2) Arrange steps on using Picasa-an image editing program.

Background and General Instructions


This Self-instructional Material entitled Technology is an effective
and vibrant tool for Empowering a Person.
This lesson will identify various image editing programs. Arrange
steps on using Picasa-an image editing program.
The series of learning exercises are provided as aids for the mastery
of the lesson. Kindly answer the activity cards, assessment card, and
enrichment card properly by reading first the directions given in each
activity.
Write your answer in a separate sheet of paper.

Image Editing Programs
1. Artweaver - a full featured painting tool with a huge set of predefined realistic
brushes to paint creatively or just experiment.
2. Inkscape – free and open- source vector graphics editor that can
be used to create or edit vector graphics such as illustrations,
diagrams, line arts, charts, logos, icons, and complex paintings.
3. Paint.net – an image and photo editing software for PCs that run Windows. It
features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for
layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful
and powerful tools.
4. Photoshop – a popular image changing software
package widely used by photographers for photo editing (fixing
colors, reducing noise, adding effects, fixing brightness/contrast)
and by graphic designers and Web designers to create and
changes images for web pages.
5. Picasa – a discontinued, cross platform image organizer and image viewer for
organizing and editing digital photos integrated with a now defunct
photo-sharing website originally created by a company named
Lifescape.
6. Smooth Draw – a feature -rich natural painting program for
free-hand drawing artists. It supports high configuration
of brushes and tools like configuration of brush/tool size
and ink-flow, which make it best for natural drawings.

Steps on Using Picasa
1. Download the latest version of Picasa. You can obtain the latest version for free
from picasa.google.com.
2. When you first open Picasa, you can choose to scan your entire hard drive, or just
My Pictures, My Documents, and Desktop. It will then display your pictures in its
Library view.
3. Double click on a photo to take you to the editing window.
4. Learn what each button in the “ Basic” tab does.
5. Learn what each button in the “ Tuning” tab does.
6. Learn what each button in the “ Effects” tab does.
7. Share your edited digital photographs.
