COVID 19

1. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause disease in animals or
humans.[1] Seven coronaviruses can produce infection in people around the world but
commonly people get infected cause a respiratory infection ranging from the common
cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the most recently discovered
coronavirus (COVID-19) causes infectious disease.

The WHO originally called this infectious disease Novel Coronavirus-Infected

Pneumonia (NCIP) and the virus had been named 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

2. What is COVID-19 COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered
corona virus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan,
China, in December 2019.

3. Common symptoms include fever, cough, sneezing and shortness of breath. Complications may
include pneumonia, throat pain and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

PENJELASAN :

It is considered most contagious when people are symptomatic, although transmission may be possible
before symptoms show in patients. Time from exposure and symptom onset is generally between two
and 14 days, with an average of five days

4. Corona virus infection or COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus, which is a group of

viruses that infect the respiratory system. In most cases, coronavirus causes only mild to
moderate respiratory infections, such as the flu. However, this virus can also cause severe
respiratory infections, such as pneumonia, Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)
and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

PENJELASAN :
The Corona virus can infect anyone, but the effect will be more dangerous or even fatal if it
occurs in elderly people, pregnant women, people who have certain diseases, smokers, or people
whose immune systems are weak, for example in cancer patients.

5. To confirm a diagnosis of COVID-19, the doctor will perform the following tests:

- Rapid test to detect antibodies (IgM and IgG) produced by the body to fight the
Corona virus
- Swab test or PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test to detect the Corona virus in
sputum
- CT scan or chest X-ray to detect infiltrates or fluid in the lungs

PENJELSAN :

A positive COVID-19 rapid test result most likely indicates that you are already infected with the
Corona virus, but it could also mean that you are infected with other germs or viruses.
Conversely, a negative COVID-19 rapid test result does not necessarily indicate that you are
absolutely free from the Corona virus.

7. How likely am I to catch COVID-19?
The risk depends on where you are - and more specifically, whether there is a COVID-19
outbreak unfolding there. For people living in, or visiting, these areas the risk of catching
COVID-19 is higher.

PENJELASAN :

For most people in most locations the risk of catching COVID-19 is still low. However, there are
now places around the world (cities or areas) where the disease is spreading.

8. Lung specialist Dr. Friendship Hospital. dr. Erlina Burhan, SpP stated, the new normal
must be done with careful preparation by paying attention to various aspects. Such as
facilities or facilities in the community that support, awareness and discipline of
community lifestyle, high examination ability, and readiness of the health system
