opinion, and give examples of each.

Answer

1. Adaptation

In adaptation, the translator changes the content and form of the ST in a way that conforms
to the rules of the target language and culture. In general, this procedure is used to deal
with culturally-bound words or expressions, metaphors and images in translation.

Example(s): She is innocent as an egg : elle est innocente comme un agneau.

Transliteraton

Transliteration occurs when the translator transcribes the SL characters or sounds in the TL.
This procedure refers to the conversion of foreign letters into the letters of the TL.

Example(s): Object : Objek, Pencil : Pensil.

Transposition

Transposition or shift, reflects the grammatical change that occurs in translation from SL to
TL.

Example(s): ‘equipment’ : ‘des équipements.’


2. . intralingual translation – translation within the same language, which can involve rewording or
paraphrase.

Example(s): lift – elevator

interlingual translation – translation from one language to another.

Example(s): Annyeong : sometime become “bye” and other become “hello” depend on situation and
intonation.

3. Perfect translation : Its translation that purely informative and actual event.

Example(S); Today is sunny day

Adequate Translation: Translation that written on literally work such as book, novel, and religion
transcripts

Examples: “I’ll put the fear of God into you!” The Russian sentence is low colloquial, whereas the
English one, though it describes a similar situation, has another stylistic overtone, a rather pious
one.
