Antiinflamatories

• Condition of the eye not related to infectious pathogens often require treatment with
antiinflammatory drugs.
• If the inflammation is secondary to bacterial or fungal infection,an antibiotic or antifungal agent
included in medication regimen.
• Some ocular antiinflammatories are combined with antibacterials
• Ophthalmic nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) such as diclofenac sodium and
ketorolac tromethamine inhibit miosis by preventing the formation of ocular prostaglandin.
•Ophthalmic corticosteroids such as dexamethosone and prednisolone acetate are another type of
antiinflamatories.
