MODULE 4 REFLECTION
Instructions: Now that you have completed your work for this week. Write a
reflection about what you have learned. Your reflections should include (1) your
opinion, and (2) evidence/literature to support your opinion. Things you can
reflect on include the readings for this week, videos or pod casts, or discussions with
classmates.

The purpose of this assignment is to ensure you are processing your thoughts on the course content. This will
enhance your learning and knowledge. This reflection journal is private. None of your peers will be able to see it.
I will be providing feedback or comments. Your work will be evaluated using the following: depth and
thoughtfulness of reflection based on the presented material for the particular week and your evidence.

After enhancing your knowledge on Evidence-based Nursing Practice, what do

you think are the main reasons why research evidences are not put into
practice? What do you think must be done to bridge this gap?

Upon acquisition of the learning from this week, my knowledge towards

the Evidence-based Nursing Practice has widen. I was able to understand the
importance of evidence-based nursing research in the field of my course. In
this point in time, the goals of the evidence-based practice have evolved into
more dynamic and useful in influencing patterns of practice. However, there
are always been a problem in finding an evidence to support the chosen topic,
you will be going to deal with a thousands of evidence and papers before finding
the right one for your research. The mentioned 5 key steps in the evidence-
based practice process are truly essential in guiding both researchers and the
client to the successful studies; as you will be going to ask questions, acquire
evidences, appraise the best evidence, applying the said evidences and act or
implement the evidence to see the outcomes of the study.
Evidence-base nursing provides new knowledge in clinical practice as it
is the key to improve health care quality and patient outcomes but research
evidence is not put into practice as for the reasons that there are barriers to the
application of research evidence to health care. Research evidence aren’t put
into practice because clinical researchers have difficulty finding, assessing,
interpreting and applying the current best evidence as for the reason that they
have a poor access to best evidence and guidelines., evidences aren’t organized
and the poor support in implementing the research evidence into practice. As
well as, other factors that might prevail, for example, the low budget of health
services and misdistribution of resources. To sum up, the barriers have always
existed and the progress of research to practice has been slow.
The thing here is, when the barriers of research evidence and clinical
practice are put together effectively, there would be no gap between the two,
isn’t it? Researchers can achieve reduction in morbidity and mortality in the
clinical field when the barriers bridge the gap, there are steps or possible
solutions in implementing the evidence into practice. research evidence can
put into practice when the services that used in the study are abstract and
synthesize information, when there are guidelines produced in developing
clinical guidelines, when the facilities develop disease management system the
encourage effective care to the patients, and also there should be steps that
must be negotiated to form a valid connection between evidence and practice;
you need to synthesize the evidence, develop clinical policy from the evidence
and applying policy at the right place, in the right way and at the right time.
Generally, I could say that Evidence-based nursing practice would be a
great help to all the clinical researchers in improving the health care and
attending the patient needs and care, there might be gap or no gap the nurses
should always be knowledgeable enough in developing the health services
provided to their patients and bridging the barrier between the research
evidence and clinical practice will not always ensure the patients optimal
treatment.
