PRESIDENT’S ANNOUNCEMENT
UNIVERSITY OPERATIONS DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL
ORDER FROM 18™ TO 315" MARCH 2020
PREAMBLE
The government of Malaysia has declared that the entire country will be on a
movement control order starting from 18" to 31" March 2020 under the Prevention
and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967 to deal with the
tise in Covid-19 cases.
In compliance with the order, the University hereby issue this notice of arrangements
which shall be adhered to by all students, faculty and staff.
A. ACADEMIC OPERATIONS
1, Undergraduate and Postgraduate by Coursework Programmes:
a, Mid-term semester break shall be brought forward to 18" March 2020 and
extended until 31" March 2020. All classes during this period will be postponed
and rescheduled accordingly. Classes shall resume on 1" April 2020 upon the
expiry of the movement control order.
alPageb. The semester period under the current academic calendar for all programmes
shall remain the same except for MBBS academic calendar which shall be
extended by 2 weeks. The revised academic calendar shall be made available
to affected MBBS students upon approval from University Senate.
. Post-Graduate by Research Programmes
a. All post-graduate students will be able to communicate online with their
respective supervisors.
b. All vice voce sessions shall be postponed during this period and candidates
shall be informed in due time of the rescheduled sessions.
. Workshops and Laboratories Sessions
a. All planned practical and bench work sessions shall be postponed with
immediate effect until further notice.
b. All experiments currently being undertaken in the laboratories shall cease
immediately and may resume upon the expiry of the restriction movement
order.
Intemship at All Sectors
. Allintemships shall be postponed with immediate effect and may resume on 1%
April 2020, unless required by their respective employers. All intems in
industrial attachment shall immediately inform their supervisors with regard to
the postponement and University shall formally notify the employers in due
time.
b. The industrial attachment period shall end as scheduled and necessary
arrangements shall be made with the respective employers by the intems and
assisted by the University.

a. All campus student residences shall remain in operations.
b. Students are advised to regularly communicate with thelr residential fellows
who will assist them in their daily and healthcare needs. Campus cafeterias
may supply packed food to campus residential students if more convenient to
do so. Students may also arder food delivery if desired.
6. Fulltime Intemational Students
a. Allintemational students may continue to stay in the arranged residence.
b. International students are also advised to communicate and consult with their
respective embassies / high commissions with regard to any policies of their
country of origin which may affect their stay arrangements in Malaysia.
7. All group activities, both internal and extemal, and shor courses shall be

B. OFFICE OPERATIONS (INTERNAL SERVICE)
4. Work From Home (WFH)
a, WHF will be activated from 18” to 31* March 2020.
b. Staff working hours shall remain the same as usual,

recommendation from their respective departmental / divisional / sectorial
heads, subject to the approval of Head of Campus or Deputy President of
University Development and Sustainability as applicable.
€. Specific instructions on WFH shall be issued by GPMTC from time to time,
2. Meetings
a. All meetings shall be conducted realtime-online through the appropriate
secured platforms as advised by IT Division.
b, IT Division shall issue applicable guidelines from time to time to facilitate the
smooth conduct of meetings.
3. Essential Services

Safety and security services shall be maintained at current level.
b. All requests for access to backroom essential services shall be vetted and
approved by IT Division.
¢. The hotline numbers shall remain active and all calls shall be attended to as
per standard operating procedures currently in force.
d, MesRA shall continue its online marketing and recruitment campaign with the
necessary supports from management.
4. Other Services
‘a. All other services such as building maintenance and cleaning shall be
continued to upkeep the premises albeit with minimum resources.
4|PageAll students and staff are encouraged to practice good hygiene and follow the strict
precautionary measures and social distancing as outlined by KKM.
Those with symptoms should go to the nearest medical facilities for screening and
treatment.
