Lesson Synthesis

1. How do you feel about a week-long plan? Is it feasible? Can you implement your plan?
Yes, the implementation of the week-long plan is feasible. Assuming that the meeting for
the Mother Tongue subject will be an hour every day for the week or meeting thrice a
week, that will be an ample amount of time to discuss the lesson. In discussing the lesson
especially for the grade 1 students, it should be hands on and carefully presented. Lesson
should be synthesized to a level grade 1 students can easily comprehend and understand.
Such that activities done in class should be simple yet insightful and fun (as students in
this age group likes to play and are active). The activities for the learning plan were
enumerated in the learning experiences column where it shows how the lesson will be
discussed. Right next to that column are the materials that will support the activities
applied. The week-long plan can be implemented if there is cooperation from students and
consistency from the teacher.

2. In your readings and classroom observations, what are the teaching strategies and classroom
activities that worked well for students?
From my experience as a student and from classroom observations, oral recitations and
collaborative works are teaching strategies that work well with students. Oral recitations
allow teachers to ask from lower order questions to higher order questions challenging the
students’ critical thinking skills. This strategy also allows students to formulate their own
ideas or answers from the new topic and connect it to previous topics discussed. This
gives them the chance to create a new knowledge that they themselves made.

In addition, collaborative works or activities allow students to work with peers. This teaches
them to build interpersonal relations and learn from one another. There are times wherein
students are shy enough to ask questions from the teacher, so they ask their classmates.
Through collaborative activities they can express themselves in their groups and create
better outputs with them.
