POSTTEST:

A client’s immunization is up-to-date. What type of immunity does this provide to the
client?

The type of immunity that the client need when the immunization is up-to-date is the
Acquired Immunity, wherein this Acquired Immunity defines as a long-lived resistance that
an individual acquires during life that guide the development of the antibodies that offer
protection.
There are two types of Acquired Immunity which are the active acquired immunity
and passive acquired immunity, however the Active acquired immunity is more responsible
for the production of the antibodies and it is also called as “Adaptive Immunity”.
The antigen that is administered to the patient combines to the existing antibody
leading to the reduction of existing level of antibody, the response of the vaccine
administered to the body of the patient can be boosted and maintained by repeated
injections, the preparations of the vaccine is in the artificial active immunity that can be
killed or live microorganisms used for immunization. They are different from various uses
and effectivity. Live vaccines can be given orally or parenterally, immunity lasts for several
years, boosters may be needed, BCG vaccine, Measles, Rotavirus and OPV are the examples
of live vaccine. While, the killed vaccines have no infective stage, less immunogenic,
repeated doses are needed, oral doses aren’t effective, parenteral doses given with adjuvant
to increase humoral immunity, and the example of these vaccine are the IPV and Whole-cell
pertussis.
I conclude that, it is important that we should be vaccinated to protect ourselves and
boosts our immune system. Vaccines can outweigh the risks without it our body are at risks
for serious illnesses and even death.
ACTIVITY:

In your own words differentiate the types of immunity.

There are several types of immunity including the Acquired Immunity, Natural
Immunity, Humoral Immunity, and the Cell-Mediated Immunity.
First, is the Acquired Immunity. When you say acquired immunity this is more about
immunization and an immunity that can acquired by an individual during his lifetime. It
administers to the body from a various type; the Active Acquired Immunity and Passive
Acquired Immunity are the two types of Acquired Immunity.
Second, is the Natural Immunity. This immunity exists at birth and can be related
from race, species or genetic trait of an individual. This is often to be the first line of defense
against infection. The parts of natural immunity are always active and can be easily
activated.
The third one is the Humoral Immunity and it involves the B-Cells, the production of
protein called the immunoglobin or antibody that are present in the plasma, lymph ant tissue
cells. It protects against the extracellular pathogens and also their toxin. The onset of the
Humoral Immunity is rapid and the result of the activation is the differentiation of plasma
B-cells, secreting antibodies. The classes of immunoglobins are different from each other
from the length, location, function and distribution. This are the Immunglobin A, IgD, IgE,
IgG and IgM.
Lastly, the Cell-mediated Immunity composed of the T-Cells. This immunity
identifies and destroys infected cells in the body and protects against the intracellular
pathogens. The cell-mediated immunity protects against the fungus, viruses and
intracellular bacterial pathogens that provides immunological surveillance. The T-
Lymphocytes, Macrophages and NK-Cells are present in the Cell-Mediated Immunity. The
onset of this immunity is delayed and the result of the activations is the secretion of
cytokines.
REFLECTION:

In 10 sentences, write your thoughts about this topic.

After going through the given lesson, my understanding toward the importance of the immune
system becomes clear. I learned that it leads to the biggest vital role in protecting our body from the harmful
substances, infectious cells and germs that could make our body less productive and ill. I also obtained the
fact that as long as you are healthy, taking nutritious foods and supplements, and vaccinated, your immune
system will work and run smoothly to protect you in fighting aggressive viruses and germs. If you are in a
good condition today, thank your immune system and yourself as you did a great job to boost up your body
and immune system. It is really amazing that in behind our own body, there are systems that make you
healthy and alive.
Another information that I was able to comprehend clearer was the types of immunity that are part of
the immune systems regulation that also fight and neutralize the harmful substance. They held a various role
in helping the immune system; first, the Acquired Immunity that a person can acquire during his life through
the immunization. Second, is the Natural Immunity that exist at birth and this one is the first line of defense
and the third one is the Humoral Immunity that involves the B-Cells and protect against the extracellular
pathogens. And lastly, the Cell-Mediated Immunity that composed of the T-Cells and protect against the
intracellular pathogens. All in all, what a person must do to take away from unfortunate illnesses is to
appropriately assist themselves in taking proper nutrition and better to seek for health care upon noticing that
there is something wrong with your body.
