Assessment Task 1-SEEING COLOUR


Notification Date: Week 4, Monday 18th May 2020
Due Date: Week 7, Thursday 4th June 2020

Learning Intentions:
● I can select colours l like.
● I can use my colours as inspiration to create artworks in writing and images.
● I can mix and match colours.

The Task:
1. Go to a paint shop or hardware store and select 6 colour cards from the paint section.
These colours should appeal to you. You can NOT select black or white as they are NOT
colours. Purchase colouring pencils if you don't have them, at the same time.
2. Glue the colour cards onto the first page of your task making sure to label each colour
with its unique name.
3. You will see that paints have cool, crazy and strange names. You are to use these
names to create a short story about 50 words.
FOR EXAMPLE: ROSE BLUSH loved to walk dog BEAVER in the ENCHANTED FOREST
near her home on GREEN GINGER lane.
Only yours will be better and a little longer. Use the PAINT names so that they make
sense in the story.
4. Create an artwork that illustrates your story in some way. Colour your
illustration using the colours you selected AND TRY TO MATCH THOSE COLOURS
TO THEIR PAINT SAMPLE. You can of course use other colours as well but
MATCHING colours to your paint samples is part of the assessment task. The
illustration should be A4 in size and completely coloured. You may use black and
white where needed.

PRESENTATION
a) The Assessment task is to be done on A4 sheets of paper.
b) It will consist of a TITLE page with the name of the assessment task, your name and your class
clearly shown. PAGE 2 with the paint cards and their names, PAGE 3 with the story and PAGE 4
has the illustration.
c) You will staple the pages together at the top left-hand corner. DO NOT present your in a plastic
sleeve or folder.

Success Criteria
To obtain the highest level for each of the following criteria you will need to do the following:
