Q&A with Freshman Chasidy Shrier

9th Grade, Libby Newton

Libby Newton: What is your favorite hobby?

Chasidy Shrier: My favorite hobby is reading because I like the fact that I get lost in a different
world and I don't have to face reality. And sometimes the book is so good that I don't want to put
it down.

LN: What would you like to be when you grow up?

CS: At this point, I've been through many decisions, but I haven’t figured something out that’s
just right for me. I might go into anything art related for a career, but I haven’t really thought
about it that much

LN: What did you want to be when you were a kid?

CS: What my father told me is that I wanted to be a fashion designer and a vet.

LN: What is your best memory?

CS: My best memory would probably be when I was little and I would watch Winnie The Pooh,
24/7, all the time. My grandma would be sitting in the living room, of her house with me, and I
would bend over, tie my back with invisible string, and say “Oh, bother!”.

LN: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

CS: I would either stay in Texas or live in Scotland because Texas is my home and it’s where I
grew up, it’s where I belong, but I also want to be in Scotland because of how pretty everything
is and I just love their accents and their history. I’m also Scottish so I want to see a little of my
heritage.

LN: What is your biggest fear? How come?

CS: My biggest fear overall is spiders. I have arachnophobia and I don’t know why but I think it's
just the fact that their just gross.

LN: Do you like your nickname Chad? Why or why not?

CS: Personally I like my nickname, but I know that my mom doesn’t like it. The reason why I like
it is because it’s not only a nickname, it’s like a country in Africa so I’m actually being named
after that. It’s also a good name to call me because it's more masculine than feminine like my
real name is.

LN: Why do you like Draco so much? How come?

CS: Not only is he attractive in general, I like the fact that he can be very charming and he
doesn’t really care and he’s just very confident which is what I really want to be. Confident. He
would also choose family over friends and that’s something that I envy.

LN: What was the last book you read?

CS: It was called Paper Things. It was about this brother and sister who are homeless and she
learns all the struggles about being homeless. She brought back a school tradition that helps
her express her feelings and it impacted her town as a whole.

LN: What is your favorite movie?

CS: I would say I don’t have a favorite movie but I have favorite movies. My top three are Harry
Potter and The Half Blood Prince, Poseidon, and Iron Man.

LN: Do you collect anything?

CS: When I was little, I was like every other person and I was obsessed with Pokémon cards so
I still have a binder full of Pokémon cards from like fifth grade, but I don't collect them anymore.

LN: Who knows you the best?

CS: From my friend group it would be Libby and from my family it would probably be my cousin
Makayla because I spend so much time with them. So they kind of just know me.

LN: Would you say you are an introvert or an extrovert? How come?
CS: I would say I’m an introvert because I hate talking to people, I hate large crowds, and I don't
like doing anything that involves other people.

LN: What is your favorite holiday? How come?

CS: My favorite holiday would be Halloween. Not only does it give me the thrill of scaring other
people and hearing them scream, I think of it as something that brings us together so we're not
just alone like Valentine’s Day or something.

LN: What would you change about yourself if you could? Why?
CS: I would change everything because I just feel like a puzzle with different pieces that don't
connect, so I would like to be a puzzle all put together. I’m very strict on being perfect.

LN: What is the worst gift you have received?

CS: I think one would be a two year old charm bracelet that I got from my grandparents on my
mothers side. I’m not that type of girl, but they were actually really proud that they gave me that.

LN: What is your biggest pet peeve? How come?

CS: Everything. I feel like I am a person that gets annoyed at everything and I have OCD so it
kind of just mixes with it. I feel like everything has to be perfect so the slightest noise or crooked
line or an open locker will really annoy me.

CN: Nope not that I know of.
