Three words you would use to describe yourself:

1. Dedicated
2. Involved
3. Sociable

Discuss your career and personal goals:

For career goals I strive to become a Civil Engineer and work for a company that aligns with my ideals. Also, I would like to earn
enough money to give back to my mother in order to be able to provide for her like she did for me throughout my life. My goal is
to help build her the house of her dreams that she was not able to have. From there I will buy and renovate my own house to have
a place of my own where I can potentially start a family of my own.

Why would you like to attend college/trade school/military?

I would like to attend a 4-year university because I wish to earn my BS in Civil Engineering in order to have a stable financial future.
Also, I wish to be able to travel, help others, and be a part of a university culture in which I can learn and enjoy myself.

Do your grades in high school reflect your academic ability or potential? Explain.
My grades do in fact reflect my academic ability and potential, with a weighted GPA of 4.23. I have taken several honors and AP
courses which I have passed with A’s due to my hard work and dedication to my academic success. I have worked hard to be
competitive enough to apply to the highest systems of education.

Are there any particular circumstances, school experiences, or persons that influenced your preparation or motivation to attend
college/military (e.g., cultural/financial background, family, and teachers)? Explain.
As a child of a single-parent household, I have seen the first-hand struggles of what it is to provide for not only yourself but for
your children when you do not have a job that adequately brings in income. Attending college would open up so many
opportunities for jobs that provide well and have good benefits, due to the fact that requirements for most jobs now often include
a college degree whether that be an Associates or Bachelors Degree.

Describe any obstacles you have faced in school/life and how you overcame them:
Some obstacles that I have faced are the seperation of my mother and stepfather at the end of fifth grade, which upended my life
by having to change schools and move houses. I had to adapt to a whole different school setting and leave everyone I knew my
whole life to go to a school full of strangers to whom I had no connection with. I had to start from scratch and learn how to make
new friends and use a school map to get to my classes because I didn’t know where anything was. In addition, during 11th grade,
the Covid-19 pandemic caused all schools to close including mine and thus online learning became the new normal. I struggled
and am currently still struggling to adjust to a learning environment because I am someone who is a visual and hands-on learner.
Staring at a screen for hours instead of being able to interact with others and be involved in the classroom has not been easy for
me. I have turned to resources like Khan Academy to help me stay on top of the materials in my classes such as Physics and
Precalculus.
