DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM FOR

SOLAR WATER HEATER

Expected output

Conference paper

Objective

To Design latent heat Thermal energy storage system for a solar water heating unit. This
involves investigating methods to improve the charging and discharging periods using metal
matrix composites. The work will include both numerical and experimental study of the charging
and discharging process.

Quantum of work done

We have started designing the experimental setup of the storage unit.

The literature survey on the topic is ongoing.

Facilities Needed

Mechanical workshop

Thermal engineering lab equipments (thermostat, thermocouple etc)
