• In normal operation ENABLED means:


• ZC’s downloaded Zone Infrastructure and Subscriber Access Control
configuration data from ZDS into their RAM

• In normal operation:
• ACTIVE-indicates that the zone controller is “controlling” at least one MTS
Site.
• IDLE-indicates that the zone controller is not “controlling” the MTS sites.

CPS – Zone Controller Status Descriptions
Status Definition

ENABLED_ACTIVE The active zone controller is running and has been loaded by the database server.

ENABLED_IDLE The standby zone controller is running and has been loaded by the database server.

STANDALONE_ACTIVE The active zone controller is running, has not been loaded by the database server, and is operating off the local database
because it is not connected to the ZDS.

STANDALONE_IDLE The standby zone controller is running, has not been loaded by the database server, and is operating off the local
database because it is not connected to the ZDS.

REMAPPING_ACTIVE The active zone controller is running and reception of mapping tables from the database server is not yet complete.
System is running with default subscriber access = yes.

REMAPPING_IDLE The standby zone controller is running and reception of mapping tables from the database server is not yet complete.
System is running with default subscriber access = yes.

LOADING_ACTIVE The active zone controller is running and receiving mapping tables, subscriber records, and other data from the database
server.

LOADING_IDLE The standby zone controller is running and receiving mapping tables, subscriber records, and other data from the
database server.

UNKNOWN Zone controller is unreachable.

ENABLING_ZC Zone controller is coming up. This is a transition state that normally is not seen.

DISABLING_ZC Zone controller is going down. This is a transition state that normally is not seen.

UNCONFIGURED Initial state upon start up.

ZC Switchover

• The redundant controller can be switched:


• Automatically
• User-initiated

• Automatic switchover
• takes place upon internal failure that causes the loss of wide area trunking
capability or loss of dispatch operations.
• User-initiated switchover
• is performed from the ZCM application in the PRNM application suite.

• In the event that access through ZCM is not possible due to failure, the local
user terminal, through the zone controller Administration menu, may be used to
perform the switchover.

The LEDs on the front of the switch should behave according to the following when the
unit is initially plugged into a power source (self-test):
Verifying • Initially, all the switch and port LEDs are ON and stay ON for most of the duration

- Initial Plug-in • Most of the LEDs go OFF and then may come ON again during phases of the
self-test.
• For the duration of the self-test, the Self-Test LED stays ON.

• The Fault LED and Self-Test LED turn OFF.
Verifying
• The port LEDs go into their normal operational mode:

◦ When the Ethernet ports are connected to active network devices, the Link LEDs

stay ON and the Mode LEDs behave according to the mode selected. In the default
mode (Activity), the Mode LEDs remain OFF.
◦ When the Ethernet ports are not connected to active network devices, the Link and
Mode LEDs remain OFF.

Verifying If LED display behavior is different from the above descriptions, especially if the Fault and
Switch Power Up Self-Test LEDs stay ON for more than 60 seconds or they start blinking, the self-test is

Impact of Failure MNR GGSN

• If the MNR GGSN fails, the packet data service will stop and the
packet data traffic between the
customer network and mobile terminals will be cut off, so packet
data information will be lost.

• The solution is to reset the MNR GGSN.

The Sun Netra X4250 platform used in Dimetra IP SR7.0 has the following specification:

• Intel Xeon Quad-Core Processor L5408/2.13 GHz, 12 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB.
• 4 Gbyte RAM - 2x2GB PC2-5300, 667 MHz, ECC, Fully Buffered, DDR2 DIMM.
• 8 x DVD +/- RW drive
• 4 Gigabit LAN ports
• Each server is fitted with two 146 Gbyte hot- swappable disk drives configured for
RAID 1 operation.
• Two USB 2.0 ports
• Dual power supplies are used for redundancy.
• The Netra server Integrated Lights Out Management (ILOM) facility is included to
facilitate remote diagnostics and problem resolution.

Click Add Server button.
