Brief - A better solution to manage medicines at home.

Literature Research -
● People aged 65-69 years fill an average of 14 prescriptions per year.
● An estimated 44% of men and 57% of women older than age 65 take five or more
medications, called Polypharmacy.
● Medication nonadherence is widely recognized as a common and costly problem.
Approximately 30% to 50% of US adults are not adherent to long-term medications
leading to an estimated $100 billion in preventable costs annually.

User Research -
● On asking 30 users, where they store their medications at home?
27 stored in transparent boxes, 3 had no specific place to store them.
● 70% of users experienced frequent misplacement of medicines, resulting in missed
doses.
● Emergency medicines, like Aspirin, are hard to find in high pressure situations. Resulting
in deaths across the world.
● Users also reported taking expiry medicines, as they dont keep an inventory to manage
them.

Market Research -
● Solutions exist in the market for management, however, they are designed for US
markets. There is nothing for Indian patients. Also, these solutions are expensive.
● In India, medicine are sold in leafs/pata. My design will adhere to this form.

Need Statement -
So after this research, I found that users need a better way to manage and store their medicines
at homes, so they can take them diligently and get healthy.
