ZZ Top Band, “La Grange”

"La Grange" is a song by the American rock group ZZ Top, from their 1973 album Tres
Hombres. One of ZZ Top's most successful songs, it was released as a single in 1973
and received extensive radio play, rising to No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June
1974.

Form: It's elongated form is referred to (and listed on setlists) as "La Grange/Sloppy
Drunk Jam. The jam has been performed over 700 times.

and the singer sings it in a deep voice “Rumor spreadin' 'round” then keeps going

The Who Band, “Pinball Wizard”

"Pinball Wizard" is a song written by Pete Townshend and performed by the English
rock band the Who, featured on their 1969 rock opera album Tommy. The original
recording was released as a single in 1969 and reached No. 4 in the UK charts and No.
19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Form: “The chordal structure for the intro was inspired by [English Baroque composer]
Henry Purcell, who did this very short piece called ‘Symphony Upon One Note.’

guitar, bass guitar, drums.

Kiss Band, “Detroit Rock City”

"Detroit Rock City" is a song by the American hard rock group Kiss, released on their
1976 album Destroyer. The song was written by Paul Stanley and producer Bob Ezrin.
The song is one of the band's most popular and is a classic rock staple.

Form: "Detroit Rock City" was almost a rewriting of earlier material, combining elements
of "Two Timer" and some of the basic song structure of the "Much Too Young" part of
"Acrobat."

and keyboards

James Taylor Band, “Carolina on My Mind”

"Carolina in My Mind" is a song written and performed by singer-songwriter James


Taylor, which first appeared on his 1968 self-titled debut album. Taylor wrote it while
overseas recording for the Beatles' label Apple Records, and the song's themes reflect
his homesickness at the time.

Form: Remember, TAB gives you a sequence of events, a series of locations on the
neck. And it’s possible to grasp the musical structure from it. But a chord chart is a
much more effective way to easily take in the patterns in a song, if you understand how
to read it.
