As a production team, creating a Verbatim Film, we
managed to incorporate themes of “Road” by Jim Cartwright into the final Product. Addressing topics such as: eating disorders, mental health and loss in our individual performances of Verbatim Transcripts. An aim of our group was to portray these characters individually onscreen however connect them in the film by their similarities which was their sadness and reflection of the past. As practitioners and filmmakers, we achieved this by creating a rotating order in which the characters appear on screen, sharing a part of their stories, this engages the viewer by the film seeming to have a faster pace. As filmmakers we ensured that we captured different establishing shots for each individual character, to highlight their individuality and separate personal story. Overall, as a production company we were effective in all contributing to the filming process by shooting A- roll and B-roll and expressing different ideas to the group. However, work wasn’t completed evenly within the and as a practitioner I felt as though I was assigned a larger workload than others in the group, in Pre- production creating a shot list, a storyboard, and organising test shots, as well as editing the separate A- roll, B-roll and being given a large role in the editing of the overall film, this meant that there was a large amount of pressure put upon me as a practitioner to ensure as a team we reached the deadline. An improvement for the next time we work as a group would to be at the start of pre-production to create a list, issuing an equal amount of work between the production team.
