Types of assessment

ASSESSMENT: comes from a latin word "Assidere" means "To sit aside"

this is qualitative in nature.

1)Formative:

*Formative assessment is daily monitoring of learning to provide ongoing

feedback that teachers and learner can improve.

*Formative assessment is also known as assessment for learning.

*Also known as continuous assessment.

*It monitor learning process during instruction.

*Assessments are at short intervals of time.

* It gives descriptive feedback.

* It provides timely feedback and solve issues timely.

* Daily basis assessment.

*Improves the teaching learning process.

2) Summative:

*Assemesnt afater a defined period.

*Also called end term , terminal , periodic , final assessment

*It is done at the end or completation of a task.

*In this assessment grade, marks or score awarded.

*Also known as assessment of learning. Summative assessment mainly takes the form of written tests at
the end of month, and examinations at the end of a term, school year or cycle.

1assessment=> to check weakness

2 evalution=> judgement; comparison

3 examination=> decision
