220kV Substation, Poovanthuruthu is one of the major 220 kV grid

stations in the region. The HT System in the station consists of 11 VCB
panels, feeders, incomers and bus coupler. All the VCB panels are BHEL
make model VM 12 manufactured in the year 1996.In addition, 2 VCB
panels were bought from the same manufacturer 4 years back. Since the
panels had been used for a long run, regular monitoring is required for
upkeeping its service. Now, some feeders have got some issues like
mechanical problem, latching problem etc. and the panels are badly in
need of replacement. It is highly recommended to keep all spares ready to
be used during any emergency situation or during maintenance for its
efficient operation. Hence, they have to be bought as there is lack of
availability of spares. We have approached BHEL for the same, but there is
no response yet.

Hence an estimate amounting to Rs. /-( Only) is

prepared for rewinding the motor. The expenditure for the above work
may be met from the Budget provision for the O&M work of 220kV
Substation, Pallom for financial year 2017-18.
