What realizations, insights, and learnings did you get from this session in terms of your identity and

mission as a Lasallian?

Being a Lasallian entails a lot of expectations and commitment. This involves faith, service, community,
education, scholarship, transformation, compassion, excellence, commitment, and a lot more. However,
what I realized during the session is that as you go on your campus life and journey at the University,
you are meant to embrace your Lasallian identity. Upon enrolling, you might see it at first just as a mere
responsibility, but these Lasallian values will equip us with good character that we can use for the rest of
our lives. Sometimes, as students we get lost with the pressure of having to learn all the knowledge that
will prepare us for our future career paths but in De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, it provides us an
avenue to shape our character and hone our soft skills, most of which are not learned through the book
but throughout our meaningful experiences. As a Lasallian, I am enlightened with compassion and
empathy to willingly contribute evocative actions for the society.

What concrete action/s do you intend to do, or you are already doing as your creative and courageous
response towards the New Normal?

Since last year, the pandemic gave me several opportunities to serve the community. During the first
months of ECQ, I was able to successfully spearhead a donation drive for my hometown, General
Mariano Alvarez, which is the #MayTwentyAko GMA Cavite chapter. From March to June, we were able
to extend help to an estimate of 400 families, 80 individuals, 60 front liners and 27 checkpoint security
personnel. By August, through my organization Media of the Youth – GMA, we provided load for some
students attending online classes. Up to this writing, I am continuously volunteering for several
community-based projects, most of which are towards helping indigent families, which are the most
affected ones because of the pandemic. Honestly, as a Lasallian, I feel like this is one of the values the
University provided me, which is to serve the community for the betterment of the society. I am hopeful
that I can continue pursuing these actions to the best of my ability.
