What?

A punch hole, is an internal pattern reference and the only one reported
on the fabric.

Why?

To guide the seam or to put another piece.
*When the punch is impossible, the length must be indicated on a
specification sheet.

When?

We need an internal reference, to sew; a dart, a dart pleat, a pleat, a
pocket or a trimming.

Where?

The punch is placed inside the pattern piece;
-For a dart, inside the dart, about 1 cm (or 3/8 inch) from the end of the
pivot. -For a dart pleat, inside the dart, about 1 cm (or 3/8 inch) from the
end of the length to be sewn & about 3 mm (or 1/8 inch) from the side.
-For a pleat, about 1 cm (or 3/8 inch) from the length to be sewn & about
3 mm (or 1/8 inch) from the side.
-For a pocket, about 1 cm (or 3/8 inch) down the top of the pocket &
about 3 mm (or 1/8 inch) from the pocket side.
-For a trimming, directly to the desired location.
