may suffer from the desertification in the long run. Higher the level of pollution more will be
the level of degradation of the soil over the time.
1. Increased population and excessive consumption
Since the world population is growing, the demand for food and the material is also
increasing at an alarming rate. Overall the level if the consumption is also increasing at a
steady rate. So, in order to fulfil the demand, they have to optimize the farming processes to
harvest even higher crop yields. However, this level of high optimization of the farming will
hurt the soil and will eventually turn into the desertification of the land in the long run.
2. Mining
Mining is another a big reason for the desertification. The large amount of the resources have
to be extracted by the industries to meet the demand for the material and the goods. For the
mining, the large areas of the land have to be used, which causes the deforestation s well as
the pollution of the nearby areas. By the time pass by most of the natural resources have to be
extracted and the mining practice are no longer profitable the soil gets the damaged
significantly. The land become more arid and it may not be recoverable and the
desertification occurs
