What is Linguistics according to Chomsky and what is the relation with the sociolinguistics'

study object?
According Noam Chomsky and his theory proposes the existence of an innate mental structure
that allows understanding some sentence in some language natural, in addition to the process of
acquisition and domain spoken language requires very little linguistic reception for its correct
operation and develop automatically.
The object of study of sociolinguistics is language in relation to society, it has a link with other
sciences such as the linguistic theory of Noam Chomsky that there is an innate mental structure
that allows us to understand and any sentence in any natural language that we know.
Noam Chomsky creates the term speaker-listener term.
How does a language become a source of social and political power?
Language becomes a source social and political power when the speaker proposes a convincing
speech and tries to change the mentality of the listener through values and knowledge of the
socio-cultural environment.

What is "a variation"? Define the types of variation.

Linguistic variation is essential in the study of language and in the use of language because it is
important to choose the corresponding words according to the situation, and they can be different
with the same meaning.

Types of variation
Regional variation: Regional variation is characterized by the way to speak of a specific region
speakers.
Social variation: Social variation is defined by the characteristics shared by different social groups.
The Linguistic Variable: The investigators now pay attention to such matters as stating
hypotheses, sampling, the statistical
treatment of data, drawing conclusions, and relating these conclusions to such
matters as the inherent nature of language, the processes of language acquisition
and language change, and the social functions of variation.

Why is it important to carry out Socio - linguistics studies?

Through sociolinguistics, we can understand the language used by all members of a community
and the changes to pass it over time.

In the following two questions you must consult and explain each one:
What is ‘double articulation?
it refers to the way in which language is organized, this distinguishing between two levels.
Monemes and phonemes
Monemes: it is a minimal sequence of phonemes causing systematic meaning changes.
Phonemes: they are the minimum articulation of a vowel and consonant sound.

For example:

First articulation (Morphemes):

House= It is composed of 1 morpheme. and it is a free morpheme because it has a specific

meaning by itself.
dogs: It is composed by 2 morphemes.
1. dog, a free morpheme and
2. "s" the plural or bound morpheme

Second articulation (Phonemes):

H/ou/s/e

D/o/g/s

What is Language, Dialect and Social Dialects? Give an example of their relation.
Language: Language is a communication system typical of a community.
Dialect: A dialect is a regional variant that acquires a language that is spoken in one place, without
affecting the unity of the system.
Social Dialect: The different ways of using the language, according to social characteristics, such as
sex, age or educational level.

For example, in Santander use the word: Arrecho = mal geniado, In other place of Colombia it
mean to be hot or to be sexuality active.
