Le Mans Series Official Test / Le Castellet
Final rehearsal for the Le Mans Series 2011 line-up
The tests for the Le Mans Series have just taken place
on 11 and 12 March on the famous Le Castellet circuit
in southern France.
Apart from getting ready for the 2011 championship
which will begin on that circuit on 1, 2 and 3 April
forthcoming, three teams also took on responsibility
for representing Motul in their respective classes.
For instance, in LMGT Endurance, Motul could count
on Team Aston Martin Jota Sport (Vantage No. 79)
with which a technical partnership was started during
the mid-winter break. The same applied with the TDS
Racing team that entered in LMP2 and drove its first
laps in endurance. For the occasion, the French team
took the decision to trust the all-new Oreca 03 and
the V8 Nismo tested in Super GT for which Motul has

developed an experimental oil.
Last, this tests session was also marked by the great
return of the Pescarolo Team, aka the ‘greens’. De-
prived of racing in 2011, the team of the quadruple
winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is indeed making
a comeback to the forefront thanks to support from
new and also faithful partners such as Motul. Despite
a year’s absence and difficult weather conditions, the
Pescaralo Team proved it had to be reckoned with in
2011. Indeed the four LMP1s present, including the
Pescarolo No. 17, arrived successively in 5/10ths of
a second on the eve of the first tests!

Full marks for the Motul riders in Doha !

Qatar hosted on 12 March the inaugural round of the V6 engine, Franky Zapata (team Zapata Racing) also
UIM Aquabike World Championship. dominated his category by powering his MZR V6 to
Championship entrants, teams Race Spirit and first place.
Zapata Racing, both of which are supported technically
by Motul, made a brilliant start to the season. Indeed,
Jérémy Poret and Julie Bulteau (team Race Spirit) won
their respective races, thereby taking the lead of the
championship in ‘SKI F1’ and ‘SKI Ladies F1’.
Note should also be made of the very fine perfor-
mance by young Portuguese rider Stéfania Balzer who
clinched a highly promising second place.
In the ‘Runabout F1’ category, for his first official ride

International Winter Motocross / Frankenbach

First converted try for Valentin Teillet

After Steve Ramon’s win in January this year at
the Le Touquet Enduropale, followed by Clément
Desalle’s first place in February at the MX Inter in
Valence, Valentin Teillet has also shown that team
Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX was in top form at
this beginning of the season.
On board his Suzuki RM-Z250, the young rider who
was making his first race with the official Suzuki MX2
team took second place in the International Winter
Motocross organised in Frankenbach, Germany, on
14 March. After his win in race 1 ahead of numerous
450 cc machines, Valentin nevertheless had to battle
forward in race 2 and, despite a first corner fall, rose to
fifth place and confirmed second on the final podium.
Aged only 20, the 2008 European Champion thus
showed he had fully taken advantage of the win-
ter break to recover from his last year wounds. The
team will now return to Belgium for various tests and
then fly to England where they will contest two events
in the next fortnight: Hawkstone Park International
Motocross and the second round of the Maxxis
British Championship at Canada Heights, south-
east of London

Jeff Thomson / IQ 600cc

Motul shines on Canadian snow!

After Jean-Philippe Dayraut’s title on the snow covered
tracks of the French Andros Trophy (cf. MSN 6), Cana-
dian rider Jeff Thomson has given Motul a second title
in 2011 in this winter sport.
The last round of the Great Northern Snocross Series
took place at the end of February in Eagle River (east
coast of Canada). The events of this championship
reserved for racing sleds take place on ice tracks ca-
refully planned to combine a show for the spectators
and a technical challenge for the riders, similar to a
motocross track. The leaps by these 450 kilo, 120 hp
machines are in particular very impressive.
In front of a large crowd as usual (25,000 people were
present for the inaugural round!) which was highly in-
volved (the team proposed first-time rides on the track
for the most courageous...), Jeff Thomson completed
a very steady season on his 600 cc IQ scooter (Polaris
base), which allowed him to secure the title despite
a painful last race (accident on landing after a leap).
