A forensic argument: “An argument that deals with actions that have occurred in the

past.Sometimes called judicial arguments and include legal cases involving judgments of guilt or

innocence.”

Deliberative argument: “An argument that deals with action to be taken in the future, focusing on

matters of policy and includes parliamentary debates and campaign platforms.”

Ceremonial argument: “An argument that deals with current values and addresses questions of

praise and blame and includes eulogies and graduation speeches.” Each of these arguments can

be found in many forms . For example the article “O.J. Simpson Trial'' the author uses a forensic

argument to grab the reader's attention to the subject being O.J. Simpsons case and trial. A

forensic argument is an example in the article “O.J. Simpson Trial” reads “The defense team

argued that the glove could not have been Simpson’s, because it appeared too small for his hand

when he tried it on in the courtroom.” The reasoning behind the fact that this quote is a forensic

argument is due to the fact that it deals with matters of guilt and innocence in the past , O.J

Simpson's trial took place on January 24, 1995. Another example of a deliberative argument

would be global warming . a deliberative argument addresses a current conflict or issue . As

researchers are finding out global warming is becoming more of an issue than anyone would

have expected “ Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is

scrambling to keep pace. It has become clear that humans have caused most of the past century's

warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse

gases, their levels are higher now than at any time in the last 800,000 years.” This was found in

the article “Causes and effects of climate change” these statistics show just how bad global

warming is becoming and persuades the reader to think more about solutions, effects, causes and
so much more. All of these arguments stimulate your thinking process. The last argument is a

ceremonial argument titled “A Zombie Apocalypse Prediction For 2021? CDC Has A

Preparedness Guide” This article touches on the largely believed prediction that a zombie

apocalypse will be occurring in the future.

Question 4:

Donald Trump is a confrontational, humorous man who brands himself in a way to access

his viewers through the humor in his tweets. They may instill many emotions upon the audience

which is why he brands himself this way. He brands himself as a confrontational person which

he may be, this still does not mean that he is a good person with good ideas or morals. In saying

so, he still manages to reach out to all individuals whether he draws them in by fear, anger,

passion, love, demise, or any other emotions. Words have more power than most think. They can

make others react in crazy ways or say crazy things. This is all a part of having a voice in our

society today. 1,659,180,779 is the largest number of likes Trump has received in the past years

on his Twitter account. He is confrontational in order to gain their views and draw all attention to

his otherwise said outrageous opinions. When you speak openly about your views, you are likely

to receive backlash or hate in our “cancel culture” today. Cancel culture is generally known as a

form of group shaming on platforms like Youtube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, and others. An

extremely large percentage of the people in our society are a part of some social media platform

or have been before. Furthermore, this goes to show that if you say something outrageous on a

social media platform it is most common to get extremely large numbers of views, likes, and

shares. Not all of these will be positive or supportive. In fact, most of Donald Trump’s tweets do

not have good feedback. This however does not prevent him from getting fame and attention

from them. Another way to gain attention and fame in order to spread your message is through

songwriting. Becoming famous in the music industry may be very tough but it is well worth the

hard work. The fame you gain can help you change the world with your messages. For example,

Lil Dicky released a song in 2019 titled Earth. This song hit the platforms and most people went

crazy for it. They use humor and jokes to persuade listeners to hear their main point and message
which is saving our planet. A dire issue most people don’t even think about on a daily basis. The

point of this song is effective because it makes this upsetting topic lighthearted and a funny joke

while still pushing the message to the reader. Along with the hilarious lyrics the music video

contributes to the appeal. Grabbing your audience’s visible attention is extremely important. If

they see funny animals dancing around and cartoon objects singing they are most likely to want

to listen to what you have to say. Comic relief is a huge part of our society. Using it to wrap

people’s minds around what you need to say is genius.

Question 3:

T.newman11. Instagram is a mobile app released in 2010 where you can share photos and

videos along with interacting with your friends, family, and people all around the world with one

or two taps. Personal accounts are created to upload your own edited photos and captions along

with a profile picture, bio, and links if you choose a public figures account. The difference

between a public figure account and a regular account is that public figure accounts allow you to

check your views, likes, shares, and others. This allows for influencers mostly, but on occasion

unrecognized accounts to easily access their important information. Each account is personalized

based on your aesthetic and who you want people to see you as. As a child growing up in my

household morals were taught to me young. I was always sure to be safe in the real world along

with on social media. I was also taught to be a respectful human being. Bullying on social media

or inappropriate comments made on Instagram. Being an unpleasant individual on social media

can be seen by anyone in the public. In order to portray a positive outlook on my social media

platforms I am careful of things I say and post. I wanted my aesthetic to be mostly my friends

and family to let those who follow me know who is important in my life. I post an excessive

number of pictures of me smiling to infer my viewers into thinking I am an overall happy person.

Along with my friends and family I post adorable pictures of my animals, the basis of my

account is who is most important to me and my lifestyle. If one was to browse through my likes,

favorites, shares, and who I chose to follow people in general might assume that fashion is an

enormous portion of my life, along with traveling. Fashion and clothing is one of my many

passions, I love finding inspiration and ideas to widen my fashion sense. Traveling is another

passion of mine. One of my many dreams for the future is to become an international airline
stewardess. I enjoy finding cool places around the world that peek my interest and that I would

enjoy seeing one day. If someone was to look at my likes they would presume that I am a

somewhat adventurous person who enjoys outdoor activities. My follow list consists of many

famous models, actors, singers, and people that I look up to in order to see their inspirational

posts. I enjoy seeing famous models in my feed to push myself to always get better and reach my

goals, motivation is my key and surrounding yourself with positivity radiates positivity and that

is exactly how I want myself and my profile to be portrayed by any outside spectators.Through

and through my social media platforms exhibit my love for the beautiful creative world along

with my values and beliefs. Despite negative feedback which is an enormous part of social media

I chose to stay true to myself and what I love.

Chapter 4:

13 years later and I constantly rewatch all of the movies. Binge watching these movies

with snacks is one of the best ways to step out of reality and step into a different world where

your own problems aren't your main focus and you can hown into the false reality the producers

created for the audience. For anyone with an interest in romance movies this is the one for you .

Throughout the series you create a bond with the characters. The movie's first movie titled

Twilight was produced in 2008 by “Summit Entertainment” and was extremely successful

bringing in $3.3 billion. Next came“Twilight Saga” ,2009 New Moon was released and Eclipse

was set to air in the summer. The film twilight is directed towards many people, mainly the

audience of young teenagers because it allows for them to believe that there is someone for

everyone. The plot of all of the movies provide a great story line for the right audience. I think

young females should all watch these movies not because they are informational or provide good

ideals and values but to understand the false reality of love and fantasy . While this movie is

about the lust and love story between a mortal and a vampire no one brings the credit to the

Cullen’s in the way that they put forth family loyalty, self-control, and tranquility among

themselves while still being known as a vicious and harmful creature. This series has many

underlying themes and messages you just have to know where to look for them. Another good

message I took from this movie is that you have to understand how someone acts under their first

impression. Everyone is different and you cannot judge someone based on one impression. For

example, In the final movie Bella attacks Jacob for claiming her daughter, the film portrays Bella

as the villain first until you learn the underlying reasons why she did what she did. Another
reason to watch this series is because it helps you feel connected to a group of people, if you are

one to feel out of place, or like you don't belong you may love these movies. As teenagers we

have all felt out of place at one time or another this movies helped me understand that no matter

how alone you feel there is always someone or a group of people that are there for you.Bella is

known as the new loner shy, awkward, girl out of place at her brand new school. ALong with

this reputation The writers created Bella like a blank slate. I feel her lack of personality or lack of

string character traits allows for the audience to put themselves in her shoes and project our own

thoughts, hopes, and fears onto her. As young girls in our society we all want to be a part of

something and feel included as though we matter . On the outside, Twilight may come off like

nothing but a high school experience, but it manages to capture exactly what it felt like. Every

problem was life or death, every emotion was felt in extremes.

Question 1:
1. “Resistance is futile.” (Borg message on Star Trek: The Next Generation) Personally I

think that this slogan is meant to be portrayed as a threat to the audience. Resistance is

futile means that standing up to someone or something is useless or a waste of time.

2. “It’s the economy, stupid.”(Sign on the wall at Bill Clinton’s campaign headquarters), I

believe this is an emotional fallacy of a statement. It is extremrly eggzaterated in use of

the term “stupid” our economy cannot logically be “stupid” it is the people involved in

the running of the economy.

3. “Make love, not war.” (Antiwar slogan popularized during the Vietnam War) For this

slogan I believe that the appeal of this slogan is to persuade the audience to make the best

choice, in order for you to do that They state the best decision which is to make love and

not war If the audience was to listen to this slogan we would have a less controversial

world.

4. “Build bridges, not walls.” (attributed to Martin Luther King Jr.) Similar to the last, in

order to provide an effective argument they tell you what to do rather than infer it. The

speaker wants the audience to let down our walls and connect with people rather than

keeping ourselves locked away alone. This argument could be considered to be tied to

emotions because it ties into peoples deeper emotions and trauma .

5. “Stronger Together.” (campaign slogan) this slogan wants you to believe in the idea of

wanting to fit in with everyone else and have similar ideas. Although this slogan wants
you to believe in the most common views it provides no reasoning or evidence to support

other than it is what everyone else is doing or thinking.

6. “Guns don’t kill, people do.” (NRA slogan) This statement plays into the antics that an

inanimate object is not the reason for negative outcomes, it is the people behind the

actions . Guns cannot physically pull their own trigger. The thought comes from the

person behind the trigger.

7. “Dog Fighters Are Cowardly Scum.” (PETA T-shirt) This fallacy is not valid because it is

a personal attack to the other opinionated side by the use of the word “scum” the speaker

is using this term to take a dig at the other side of the argument. It makes the other side

seem worse than the other by using a word with such a negative connotation. This word

will make some people feel a certain way about the opposing opinion. This could be

portrayed as one group of people being “ scum” when this is not true. Not all people with

something in common are bad or good. Individuals are their own people with their own

thoughts, feelings and morals . You cannot classify all people as one word

8. “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” (attributed to Harry S Truman) Using

this slogan is giving the audience a choice to do either of the 2 options: take the heat or

get out . But one option is way more appealing than the other making it the obvious

choice to the audience, this makes one of the options a more logical choice.

The ad I chose for this prompt is based on the idea of covid-19 and how the cleaning

antics upped once the outbreak started and the uprise in demand for good cleaning products. The

ad talks about how it is trusted and approved by moms in our society women are known as the “

housewife” that cleans and cooks which makes them someone to count on. Clorox has been used

for a long time but the pandemic increased the use. It became difficult for stores to keep this

product on the shelves due to the consumers mass buying this product. This as a result makes the

argument that you should buy this specific brand and not any opposing companies. This ad is

using ethos because they are stating that these clorox wipes are to be well trusted. In order for

people to believe the idea that clorox wipes are trusted and a superior disinfectant wipe, you

have to bring evidence or proof. Along with this idea the ad puts the picture of 5 stars filled in

showing it is an amazing product and a positive quote supporting this brand. The 5 star rating

furthers the idea that many people believe this product works amazingly well and others should

buy it. People are more likely to buy a product with a high rating by fellow consumers. The

website this ad was created states “ Not only does this display advertisement boast that Clorox is
trusted by moms generally, they added a review from “sydney2” at the bottom. This is

reminiscent of basically any paper towel or cleaning product commercial—moms know best

when it comes to cleaning up after messy, tiny humans.” This quote further proves my point that

clorox is the best brand of wipes.

This ad is an extremely impactful and effective advertisement. It uses an illusion to

represent the distribution created from the use of smoking cigarettes. The image shows a

cigarette burning. As the cigarette is burning so are buildings, people, lives, relationships, and

many more. This ad is trying to illustrate to the viewer that while smoking the smoker is also

killing all of those other things illustrated in this ad. The image within this ad plants an essential

question into the viewer and or smokers head, is lighting and smoking that cigarette worth the

damage? Reviewers of this ad have said that it “Sends the message live and direct. Love the

intricate detailing” This individual agrees with the opinion that this ad is extremely effective, and

sends an overall positive message to the viewer. Not only does this ad send a positive message

but it expands one's thinking and makes them question as to whether or not the cigarette is worth

it. The next respondent exclaims, “good,it shows the result of smoking!” This quote presents that

this ad is effective because it proves anyone can see the main idea that smoking is bad for you.

The ad also has an FDA approved sticker making the argument that smoking is bad even more

powerful and impactful.
