FUN ACTIVITIES
Fun games are a tool for learning and development of children. Children do learn more and absorb
lessons quickly when they enjoy fun games and activities. Children get excited and engaged
because they are having FUN!
Hands-on or Fun activities allow children to use all their five senses while learning. They see,
touch and move real objects to complete tasks. This means that letters, numbers, shapes, colours
and more are brought to life. They have a longer attention span. This helps them to build
knowledge and increase their long-term memory. Children strengthen their fine motor
development. They learn control, communication, concentration and dedication to finishing tasks
and problem solving. It helps in fostering creativity, increasing self-confidence and teamwork. It
helps children to build a lifelong love of learning. Fun activity is the best route to academic
success!
Young children can practice locomotor skills, body management skills and object control skills
while they move from one place to the other carrying tools, soil and water. They will be moving
their bodies using large muscles and using muscles to balance and manage objects too. Fine
motor skills such as whole-hand grasping and the pincer grasp (necessary skills for writing) are
employed in gardening when children use a trowel or rake and pick up tiny seeds to plant. Further,
being outdoors in the fresh air and moving around a lot is a good way to get exercise.

Plant some seeds
Material Required:
• Transparent glass/cup
• Paper & crayons to decorate the glass
• Soil
• Seeds
Instructions for the activity.
• Help your child to decorate the pot or glass in a creative way.
• Plant some seeds (prefer Mustard Seed-as they germinate quickly)
• Teach children how to take care of their plant by watering it daily and keeping it in
sunlight too. Let them watch and see how the plant grows gradually.

Flameless Cooking
With a little child around, normal cooking with fire can be challenging as your attention is
always diverted. In such situations, it is advisable to cook without fire to mitigate any risk.
The best part about these recipes is that they are healthy, easy, quick and can be made as
and when needed.
You could cook these simple recipes along with your kids and make a day out of it, no risks
attached. Your kids will develop their cooking skills gradually and be less dependent on you
with time.

Science Experiments
What is Science?
The word science comes from
the Latin “Scientia,” meaning
‘knowledge’. Science is the study
of facts. At the same time,
science is also about discovering
the world around us, of knowing
things, and having new and
wonderful idea. For fostering
scientific learning in early
childhood, active hands – on
learning is very important, and
this can be achieved through
science experiments.
Science experiments promote the development of scientific thinking in students. Rather than
making the students memorize the facts, they are made to think and understand things and the
world around them. Science experiments promote discovery and learning. Discovering is an
integral part of learning. Science experiments play a crucial role in the ongoing intellectual
development of children.

How to take the activity?
• Arrange for few objects and toys as shown in the picture.
• Place on tub filled with water in the centre. Place two trays on each side of the tub in
the centre and label it ‘Sink’ & ‘Float’ as shown in the image.
• Ask the learner to observe when you do the activity.
• Drop the objects one at a time in the tub filled with water. Let children observe if the
object is floating (remains on top) or sinking (goes to the bottom of the tub).
• Remove and sort it accordingly in the trays labelled.
• The learner to repeat the activity while you assist.

• Ask the learner to now pick up the glass filled with water and see
through the glass at the object kept in front.
• Ask them to repeat the activity, observe and explain the difference.

EXERCISE, YOGA AND GAMES
Physical exercise and practicing yoga help’s kids to release their negative thoughts and feelings. It brings
about mental clarity, and makes them feel better about themselves. When we do something physical, such
as yoga, we release endorphins, creating feelings of calm and happiness.

Steps
1. Make a Magic bag or box of different object containing some soft objects, hard objects, like
a ball, cotton, a button or some rough item
2. Then call the child and make him/her blindfolded
3. Ask them to put their hand into the bag.
4. Now ask them to take out one object from that bag and guess what they have picked up.
5. By touching the object, they need to guess what the object is.
6. Then remove the blindfold and let them see what they have picked up.
7. Then child can repeat the same with his parent.
Suggestions Parents can play the game for other sensory organs also like-minded
• For Eyes- Parents can ask the child to distinguish between two shades of the same
colour viz. red or pink.
Parents can ask the child to find 5 different random objects in the house like a
treasure hunt.
• For Ears - Parents can ask the child to hear different kind of sounds like that of a
drum, whistle, or any other random sound and respond accordingly.
• For Nose - Parents can ask the child to smell different random things around the
house like oil, perfume, paint etc. and identify it with their eyes and ears closed.

• For Tongue - Parents can give the child something bitter, sweet, salty food items to
eat and ask them to guess the taste. Later they can give it the child to taste.

By playing this game, the child is able to feel, hear, taste, see, and smell different object that
enhances his sensory skills.

Fun activity
Miss Bee Polite
If you’d like your little ones to begin making choices about mannerly behavior, keep this activity in
mind.
Material required
● 2 Paper plates or white paper cut in circle shape.
● Yellow paint or crayon
● Black paint or crayon
● Black paper strips (for antennas)
● Glue
● Sticky tape
● Ice-cream stick or old pencils.
● Scissors

First, help your child make a Miss
Bee puppet.
1. To make one, draw a smiling
face on one yellow paper plate or
colour the paper yellow and cut in a
circle shape and a frowning face on
a second plate
2. Colour two paper strips black
for antennas.
3. Cut two small circles from
black construction paper or black
colored paper, then glue a circle to
one end of each black strip to
represent antennae.
4. To the back of one plate, tape
the antennae at the top of the plate.
Tape the craft stick or the pencil to
the bottom of the plate for easy
handling.
Make a happy face on one plate and a sad face on another plate.
Steps
● When the child has made a puppet, have him use his puppet during this fun time activity.
● Using each of following suggestion, describe a situation in which proper or improper
manners were used
● Direct each child to display either the happy or sad expression on his puppet to indicate if
Miss Bee Polite would approve or disapprove of the behaviour, by showing happy or sad
face.
● Instructions, to be given by the parents-
Parents will ask different questions or give different situations to the child and the child has
to show either the happy Miss Bee face or the sad Miss Bee face.
● The questions to be asked by parents are as follows---
